Personality: Shion claims that it was Nezumi that dragged him from a life as a mindless No. 6 worker, but truthfully Shion always felt a deep unease about the city he lived in. Always felt stifled even when he lived in luxury with his mother. It was that more than anything that led him to opening his window in a hurricane the night of his twelfth birthday and screaming. An act which drew Nezumi to him, and changed his life forever.

Shion is an idealist. He believes that humans are worth fighting for. All humans are equal, this is his key belief, he does not agree with polar extremes, does not agree with Nezumi's 'them' and 'us' stance. He seeks a middle way and tries to bring about equality whilst saving as many as he can. Even when Nezumi warns him that if Shion learned the truth about No.6 and still wanted to save it they would be enemies. Shion believed they could find a way to cooperate. He doesn't want to lose Nezumi, he doesn't want the city to die. He believes he can succeed. It is notable that when he does learn the truth, that No. 6 has killed Safu, that they experiment on their own people that he calls his wish a 'pipe dream'.

Shion is friendly to everyone and trusts people easily, even when he definitely shouldn't. At the age of twelve he takes Nezumi in without even asking his name. Even when he finds out Nezumi is an escaped prisoner, against all social conditioning, his response is to offer the boy his supper. His only regret afterwards is that the punishment hurt his mother also. He is the kind of person who names robot rats, reads to small children and offers them soup when they are hungry.

He won’t hesitate to help anybody even when it puts his own life in danger. He tends to take the immediately compassionate route, not thinking about the effects of his actions. This means he does things that will cause trouble in the long-term even while helping in the short-term.

Shion has a very high IQ, at the age of two he was tested and given the right to live in Chronos; the elite district, he attended the best schools. When he was twelve he was getting ready to enter the special program for the brightest minds. He knows enough medical procedure to treat a bullet wound; at the age of twelve. He does this with glee happy to be able to use his skills. He remembers everything, is able to memorise the map of the correctional facility easily. He remembers odd details about people, in almost stalker detail though he just does it as a matter of course.

However his intellect and knowledge is limited to facts, data, scientific knowledge; things that can be summed up in numbers. Until he goes to the West Town he has no knowledge of the arts, of literature, of anything outside the strictly controlled curriculum of No. 6. He discovers a passion for reading and begins making his way through many of Shakespeare’s works and the classics.

Shion has no real fighting ability and indeed does not want to harm others. He is a peaceful person and violence shocks and upsets him. He is often afraid, but sometimes is not afraid even when he should be. He often panics or zones out and it can take physical shaking to bring him back to himself. During these times it is Nezumi who can motivate him, he can make himself move because Nezumi would taunt him, he can face things if Nezumi is there. He is much more likely to be able to break through panic to help others rather than himself. If others are in danger he can find calm to help them, he is able to break through his terror at the destruction of West Town to save a crying baby.

He is unfit, unused to having to run and climb but he gets fitter in his time in West Town and is able to keep up during the run through the correctional facility.

Shion is a lot stronger than he seems, not physically but mentally. He survives the parasite bee, only the second known person to do so. Nezumi cuts the larvae out, with no pain control or anaesthetic. The pain it puts him through is indescribable and yet he survives.

There is darkness in Shion. Nezumi can see it and often claims that he is scared of him, of what he can become. Shion feels that darkness in himself as well. He sometimes looses control, mostly if Nezumi is threatened. Shion almost throttles a guy for calling Nezumi a prostitute. He kills for Nezumi, murdering a man because he shot Nezumi. In times like this something seems to take over Shion, he is calm, cold and calculating or burning with rage and he always feels shock and guilt afterwards. He is willing to destroy the city in his anger out of what they do to Safu and indeed has to be knocked out by Nezumi to prevent him planting the bomb.


Shion is very aware that he is in many ways still an elite from No.6 (something he sees as inherently negative). He tries his best to get used to his new life and be seen by the others as an equal and to not be merely something to protect. He tried to go and rescue Safu on his own in order to protect Nezumi, after he and Nezumi fought they promised no more secrets. Shion would always rather know reality. He would rather live in the real world then in a world of false comfort like No. 6.

Weaknesses/Temptations:

Hurting Nezumi in any way will lead to him losing control, getting angry and being violent. Insulting Nezumi is also a good way to drive him to violence.

He does not like to be thought of as weak, childish or naive and so peer pressure is a thing that definitely works on him. He often doesn't trust his own instincts as he knows he could easily have become an obedient drone of No.6 and so will be more open to things that go against the rules and teachings he grew up with.

Thinking he is doing the right thing- he often picks the obvious most compassionate route and that can lead to trouble more often than not as he doesn't think about long term consequences of his actions.

Powers/Abilities:

Shion is a completely unpowered human.

He has a very high IQ and a lot of scientific knowledge. His main subject was ecology but his knowledge is broad reaching. Though he was only twelve when he was expelled from the special program his education is more like real world degree level. He is confident he can stitch Nezumi's wound even whilst admitting he has never done it before. Later after he has left No. 6 he is working on making a serum with his own blood to counteract the effects of the parasite bees. He is able to do surgery on Nezumi in a building that is in the process of self destructing.

He has a very good memory. He can recite word for word what people say, he remembers anything he reads. He memorises the map of the correctional facility and is able to guide him and Nezumi through it, knowing where every security camera is and the best ways past them.

This intelligence and knowledge does not extend to anything we would consider the 'arts'. He knows nothing of literature, music or art. He has read a few Shakespeare plays in his time in Nezumi's home but his understanding is very basic.

Note: Tower of Animus was a horror game and therefore should come with warnings for horror both psychological and physical -including body horror, torture, experimentation on children and despair (including suicidal ideation.)

Shion's personal history of the tower includes psychological torture, some body horror, unhealthy coping mechanics, co-dependency and unhealthy attitudes towards personal safety and death. I have endeavoured to talk about such things in a non-graphic way in my application.

A few hundred years before Shion was born there was a wore that broke the world. Humanity was largely wiped out, natural resources depleted and much of the world became uninhabitable. People survived in six cities, known only by their numbers.

No.6 is one of those cities. A perfect walled city where science is valued above all. The citizens on No.6 have everything they need. They swear allegiance to the city every day and have no need to complain. If they do then… Maybe on a bad day they might complain to a sympathetic little old lady on a park bench and they disappear, never to be seen again.

No.6 churns out obedient, mindless workers. People who are highly intelligent, the top of their fields of science but with no imagination, no reason to dream of anything more. Books are banned as is music and the arts. Families are formed with government permission, for procreation only.

No. 6 is a meritocracy and children are tested at an early age, the best and brightest are brought up in Chronos. In the best houses, with the best education and a guaranteed future as one of the elite scientists of No.6.

Shion is one of these children. His parents were scientists, though his father disappeared when he was just a baby. We first meet Shion when he is twelve, he and his friend Safu are on the verge of their final exams that will propel them into the ‘special program’. Shion is majoring in ecology and Safu in Biology.

Shion’s life was perfect and yet something felt wrong. Something he could never put a finger on but that something led him to opening his window and stepping out onto his balcony in the middle of a storm the night of his twelfth birthday and screaming at the sky.

It was a moment that changed his life forever. As he turned to close the window once more a noise made him turn back round and there on threshold was a drowned rat of a child, barefooted and bleeding.

Shion realises the boy is an escaped prisoner, who had been reported on the news earlier. But he is tiny and soaking and bleeding and Shion could not even comprehend reporting him. He removed the bullet and stitched up the wound. The boys name is Nezumi.

He sheltered Nezumi throughout the night and by the morning Nezumi is gone and the authorities are at the door.

Shion was interrogated and found guilty of harbouring a prisoner.He was expelled from school and kicked out of Chronos. He and his mum move to the district of Lost Town where Karen becomes a baker and Shion finds work programming cleaning robots for No.6’s parks.

This is where we find Shion four years later. There has been a death in the park. He meets with Safu who informs him that she is going to No.5 on a school exchange trip. She asks if he will have children with him and he refuses (very very awkwardly) but says if she still wants to when she returns from No.5 he would.

The next day he learns that the old man who died in the park was actually in his thirties the body has been taken away by the authorities, Shion foolishly wonders outloud if they are covering something up. Moments later he watches horrified as his co worker deteriorates, ages rapidly and dies in front of him. A bee flies out of the mans neck.

Shion is arrested on suspicion of murder and non conformity. As he’s being driven away to the correctional facility he is very dramatically rescued by no other than Nezumi. Nezumi forces Shion to throw away his No.6 identity bracelet and takes him out of the city.

Outside of the walls there is a slum town, known as West Town. It is here Nezumi lives in an underground basement room full of books, with robot mice that gather information for him.

Not long after arriving at Nezumi’s home Shion feels something on his neck and when he reaches up he feels a patch like what first appeared on those that died. He panics and begs Nezumi to cut it off him. He cuts the parasite bee larvae out of Shion. Shion's hair turns white and his eyes red, a red band appears on his skin starting on his face and swirling around his body.

Shion is terrified at first when he wakes up and sees the changes, but Nezumi yells at him some more until Shion agrees it is better to live. Shion wants to make a cure using his blood and the larvre but Nezumi refuses to let him.

West Town is a harsh place. Bodies lie in the street, children starve, it is chaos and noise and cutthroat. Full of people who will do anything to survive. Shion is a fish out of water. He gets threatened, prepositioned, stared at, robbed by small children.

Time goes on, Nezumi works on trying to unravel the mysteries of No. 6. Shion is mostly left in the dark though he tries to find out more about why Nezumi hates No. 6 so much and what he is not telling Shion. Nezumi often tells him that it is best they do not get to know one another so well as it will make it harder in the future, because of Shion learns the truth about No.6 and still thinks it worth saving then they will be enemies. Shion wonders if he can bring down the walls of No.6 so there is no inside the city and out. Nezumi calls Shion naive.

Shion is in West town about three or four months (enough time for Safu to settle into No. 5, break out of her elite No.6 way of thinking, her grandma to die and for her to return to No.6 and for winter to pass and it to become spring).

He and Nezumi have a lot of debates about the nature of No.6 and destroying vs. saving the city and more arguments about caring for people or not. There is lots of them staring at each other intently, Nezumi being unnecessarily violent towards Shion to prove that He Doesn't Care and lots of Shion wanting to know the truth about things and struggling to put feelings into words.

Shion goes to see one of Eve’s performances (without Nezumi’s permission), during the performance Nezumi faints, when he comes to he says ‘the wind blew’ and that he had heard a song.

Rikiga decides Shion needs a new coat and takes him to a place that sells clothes taken from prisoners of No.6. Shion recognises Safu’s coat and realises she’s in danger. He decides to rescue her, without Nezumi because he has already been such a burden to him.

So that night Shion thanks Nezumi for everything and says that there is nothing that scares him more than the thought of losing him. He kisses Nezumi and claims it a goodnight kiss. But it is a goodbye kiss. He sneaks away in the early hours of the morning. Nezumi follows him (he already knew Safu was missing) and they fight. They promise that there will be no more secrets between them.

Nezumi takes him to a cave, introduces him to the man who named him, a man who was also infected by the bees. He asks Shion to tell his story and he does so. Nezumi is taken by the wind and the song again, when he recovers the man asks Nezumi to sing what he heard. Nezumi sings, the cave begins to glow. Everything is embraced by a golden light.

Shion woke up in a bed, unable to move an orange liquid filled collar around his neck. There was a note. “Your world is destroyed. I saved you. Let’s be happy here.”

The Tower of Animus was set in a tower that grew to be over a hundred floors tall. Monsters prowled the corridors, the floors were everything from a library a room full of screaming with bloody handprints on the walls. A whole ocean, floating islands. Nothing made sense.

It was ran by five ‘administrators’ who used the residents as experiments, or in games. Shion was there for two and a half years. Their worlds had been destroyed and they were the only survivor -infinite universes meant that your best friend could be there, but it was not the one from your world. Yours was dead.

Shion had thought West Town bad, this was so much worse. He quickly learned that death was not real, he died twenty times, he wasn’t strong, wasn’t fast and his naivity angered some of the more… murderous residents.

Events happened monthly, sometimes games (hide and seek with murderous teddy bears, trick a treat with costumes that crushed you if you didn’t meet candy quotas), sometimes experiments (turning residents into ‘drones’, swapping around their collar fluid to see what happened, body swapping). Sometimes monsters attacked, once a space whale crashed into the tower.

Shion’s first May is notable. As punishment for dying during an event he was chained up and had to watch Nezumi (a drone thereof) be killed over and over again for everything Shion had ever done wrong and, when they ran out of crimes to list, as punishment for wrong answers to questions about art, literature etc. This lasted six days.

This gained him the start of a family through a man named Reno, who took him under his wing and with a mix of tough love and endless patience got through to him and began training him.

In July Shion disappeared from the tower for a couple of weeks. He ended up on his dead world. Just him in a dead universe. Everything dead including the sun. (This was the hiatus mechanic, so it happened a few times over the years, the most notable being just before end game when he was gone for a month and a half).

Life went on, Shion’s little family grew, he made friends, he made enemies. He saw his friends die far too many times. People sometimes disappeared, vanishing from existance, their names appearing in the graveyard. He lost control of the darkness and anger inside him many times, notably once killing Reno for a perceived betrayal of Xion. He made attempts to learn control.

One year before endgame the glamour system failed and they learned the truth. The tower was a harsh metal construct, everything was metal and foil, all the things they thought they saw were illusions. Most so their bodies. For they were not bodies at all, just metal frames, filled with fluid matched their collar colours, inside them was a soul- the only part of them that was real. They were just souls.

The power was running out. They had a year to fix things and escape or they would die, a real soul death.

Shion was part of the science teams that worked on figuring out the collar liquid, to try and give people their real powers back.

All this time Bad Things were happening. At one point whilst being strapped to a strange machine to help power the tower characters went through a mirror, which showed them all the infinite futures that could ever be, in one rush of information into their head.

Finally they defeated Ruana, figured a way to restore their worlds and finally went home.

Except Shion didn’t go home. He ended up on an archipeligo of islands. His sister, Xion was there. The islands were much better than the tower. But they still weren’t good and they still weren’t home. Islands came and went. (Were they real? Was anything about the islands ‘reality’ that’s a question Shion tried to answer by tally points in a notebook, results sway to ‘probably not’.)

His first few months were rough. He found himself stuck on a floating island for a while, whilst there he was controlled to want to ‘collect’ people, with a knife. He attacked Ignis, who knocked him out. He was then granted a ‘wish’ and shown Safu’s fate.

This is notable as Xion calmed him down and managed to stop him berserking, a breakthrough.

The next month a city with harsh rules appeared. Shion knew he shouldn’t go, it was too much like No.6 and very likely to cause him pain. He did so anyways, he followed the rules perfectly until he didn’t and got arrested.

Rule breakers were thrown into a colourless void, to eternally slumber. Xion rescued him. He decided to burn down the city. Laurent stopped him.

Life went on. He missed Reno and his other friends from the Tower but he made new friends here. Notably he met Connor (Ceej). Due to a Lot of Things, including a shared dream experience he realised he liked him. Maybe like he liked Nezumi. Cue panic.

He explored islands, learned new skills. Practical skills like house fixing and harvesting fields but also how to tell stories. They found an island full of flowers and after much investigation learned that everyone there had died from a flower disease brought on by emotional lies. Half the islanders died to this disease, including Shion. This is notable because A) It meant he broke a promise he made to Xion right before Animus endgame, to not die anymore. B) Shion had thought he had a handle on his emotions but turns out he really didn’t.

Bad things didn’t happen all the time. Sometimes there were months were everything was calm and somehow those were worse. Because Shion waited on tenderhooks, expecting everything to crash down.

In November a Nezumi arrived. Cue Even More Panic. In December Shion was put in a trial where people were bodyswapped and had to do trials designed for the person whose body they were in. Prompto was in Shion’s body and had to use Shion’s skills.

Xion (also known as Aster) disappeared and Shion was lost without her. In January there were ‘shadows’ of everyone and also ‘lights’ their worst and best qualities personified. Nezumi’s shadow was terrible but it was the Light of Nezumi that made him think. He told Shion Nezumi’s truth, that the city that raised Shion had burned down Nezumi’s village, killed his people. He also told Shion that Nezumi needed Shion’s love, that Shion just as he was was enough.

Ceej had disappeared too, Gladio vanished, Prompto vanished. Shion was helpless as his friends slipped away from him. He tried to keep track of who was gone, to make sure they were remembered. Soon he too vanished.

Character Personality:

Shion is an idealist who believes people are worth fighting for. Despite everything he has seen, done and gone through this core of Shion has never changed. He knows people can be cruel, can harm others and do harm but he still ultimately believes in equality and peace. He loves animals and science and has a tendancy to babble when he’s excited or nervous. He panics often and gets overwhelmed quickly.

Shion is someone who will instinctively take the kindest path, even if actually it is not the correct path or the path that will do the most good in the future. Shion now is at least… aware that this is a problem of his. Sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind.

No.6 is, at it’s core, a story about a naive child growing up. His time in two game worlds has only continued that growth. At canon point he believed he had seen the real world, believed he was not naive, that he could stand equal to Nezumi. Through his time in Animus he learned that his knowledge of suffering was nothing compared to the cruelties that could be inflicted on others. Yet during his time on the islands he learned that there was still more to learn. That growing actually was not something you ever stopped doing. It was something he had to work on, constantly.

Shion is a lot stronger than he seems and stronger than he believes. His main motivation is his wish to become a person who Nezumi would be proud of. During his time in Animus he became convinced that physical strength was the most important, he put a lot of stock in training with Reno until he was physically fit. He believed that physical strength was more important than the knowledge he had from No. 6. By his time leaving the tower his thoughts were a bit more balanced, science had done a lot in helping them escape.

When he arrived on the Islands he was back in his ‘real’ body, physically he was back to the weakling child of No. 6. He began training again but soon found that actually, his other skills were very helpful.

He sometimes still felt useless but he understood that a wide variety of skills were just as important as being physically strong.

Nezumi taught Shion that having connections was a bad thing, that he should throw away the ties to his old life because all they could do was hurt him.

Shion believes that Nezumi was, in this instance, wrong. Connections made you stronger. In the tower he found a family. Though they never replaced his mum they taught him a lot. Not just how to fight and stay alive. But how to live and how to love. He learned that you could love people in many different ways.

However in many ways Nezumi was right. Loving people was painful because you could lose them or they could be used to hurt you.

But if he had to chose between losing his new found family and friends and never having met them he would chose the former every time. His time on the islands has only strengthened that. Loving people could bring so much pain but it also brought so much joy and caring was still the choice Shion would make. Every time.

Shion is quite reckless, he often puts others in front of himself even if it often means they have to risk themselves saving him. This did not get better once he left his world.

In the Tower Shion stopped caring about death. In the cells during endgame Xion made him promise he would try not to die any more. This held for six months in Life Aftr, where he made a real effort to not die and break his promise.

He still has strong feelings about other peoples deaths. He believes others should not die and will be upset that they did, and angry if it is someone he is particularly close to. However the anger and sadness is more for the pain that dying caused them.

Due to his high death count in the Tower Shion began losing memories. This terrified him. Because of this Shion became obsessed with writing things down. Memories are precious. Remembering other people is also very important. Making sure his friends know that they will be remembered is important. He created a memorial garden on the islands, in order to make sure that everyone who passed through the islands was remembered even if a small way.

Shion went to his dead world a few times during his time in the tower, the longest time being just before they made the final push to restore the worlds when he was there for a month and a half. Being alone is difficult for him, the fear he might end up completely alone terrifies him. He doesn’t like the quiet, can’t sleep alone.

Shion would always rather know the truth. He would rather suffer then be kept in ignorance. He would rather a painful truth than living a peaceful lie.

No. 6 was a fake city, it was perfect but it was not real. When Nezumi rescued him he began to see the real world. In the tower he thought he knew about reality, the horror and the pain seemed like the 'real world' Nezumi was trying to teach him about. Then he discovered that it was all fake.

Were the islands real? This was a question Shion asked a lot as his drive to know what was ‘reality’ blew up into existational nonsense.

Shion has a lot of darkness inside him. Shion loses control when Nezumi is threatened, insulted or harmed going as far as murdering a guard violently after Nezumi was hurt.

The first time he lost control in Animus was after he was punished for dying in the labyrinth. As things got worse Shion felt himself getting angrier more. He made a genuine effort to try and control the feelings, chronicling feelings and trying to work out why he was feeling them.

It was something he let slip when he first came to the islands, but he once again tried to make an effort to sort out his feelings. It didn’t work all that well. He learned during the flower plague that actually he had absolutely no grip on his emotions at all.

He also has a lot of opinions about being controlled. About beings of power and what they do with that power. He does not trust powerful beings, even if they seem kind. He doesn’t believe anyone should hold sway over anyone else. ‘Learned helplessness’ is something he rallies against. He fears falling into routines, getting too used to things. He sees the part of him that likes order and stability as a weakness.

Love and relationships are worth noting because he comes from a place where such things were highly discouraged and before leaving No.6 love was something Shion didn’t understand at all.

Shion loves Nezumi. He believes that compared to Nezumi he is not strong enough, that he will always be someone who relies on Nezumi and will just slow him down. Despite this he is desperate to prove that he can be Nezumi's equal, he can be someone Nezumi can be proud of. He believes he needs to work harder to be a person Nezumi can trust in. Nezumi’s light told him, he is enough just as he is. He’s not sure how to feel about that, how that fits with everything else he knows.

On the islands he met Ceej. It took a while but eventually he came to realise that he loved him, like he loved Nezumi. He’s still… It’s confusing because Ceej isn’t Nezumi? This is one area where Shion is practically a normal confused teenager.

Shion knows that if Nezumi had not saved him he would have grown up to be a mindless adult. He would have never known what it was like to love, or hate or feel. He knows hate now, he knows what it feels like to want to destroy everything around you. He knows love so deep it makes his heart want to burst. He knows loss, he knows what it is like to lose, to be brought so low that he could not see a way to stand up again.

And he knows what it is to win. To succeed despite all the odds. To do the impossible.

When he left the tower he was full of hope that no mater what his world threw at him he could face it. He could rescue Safu, he could save No. 6.

He soon realised it was not to be. Safu was already dead. He learned the truth of why Nezumi hated No. 6 so much.

Does he want to go home?

If Safu was already dead, if Nezumi leaves him, could he face going home?

Like so many things. He doesn’t know.

When he was heading towards escaping the Tower he believed that once he escaped it would be alright, he could face the world and anything it had to throw at him. Nothing could be worse than what he had endured.

On the islands he learned that they didn’t have to be. The damage was done. He was always going to carry the scars of his past, the nightmares didn’t stop, he might not be in the tower any more but the real monsters are the ones inside his head.

Powers and Abilities:

Powers: Shion has no powers, he is a completely unpowered human.

Science and medical knowledge: Shion is very good at science. Though he was only twelve when he was expelled from the special program he had more knowledge than most adults. He is confident he can stitch Nezumi's wound even whilst admitting he has never done it before. Later after he has left No. 6 he is working on making a serum with his own blood to counteract the effects of the parasite bees.

In Animus his medical skills and knowledge grew. He worked under Hojo at the makeshift clinic and learned from him. He got very good at first aid and in first aid without a lot of supplies. Shion has never been squeamish but his time in the tower has made him even less so.

His science knowledge increased as well. Helping with the collar fluid research meant that he worked with scientists from other worlds and was able to help figure out how to unlock the potential from their souls. He has a very good memory and this helps him with science.

Survival and combat: Shion first learned survival techniques in the tower, in times where the food was stopped. He learned to trap, how to preserve meat and how to cook on an open fire. He was able to use his No. 6 learned ecology and with help from Reno apply it to real life. He could gather edible plants and even made a guide to help others do the same.

Since then he has spent 14 months on a series of islands where gathering and outdoor survival was the only choice. Suffice to say he’s gotten pretty good at it.

Reno taught him to fight. He has the knowledge of how to fight, pressure points to immobilise people, fighting styles and how to defend himself. He is still working on the strength and stamina to back it up.

Other skills: Shion can cook and bake very well. He learned to swim in the tower. He can make half decent barricades. He can do basic survival DIY.

Akira Kurusu: They met on Ziziphus, Akira had found poison flowers. He was wondering if they had a use. Shion studied them and said they could be used for making ink, but he wasn't sure how, they went back to Shion's hosue to experiment.

He has an interest in plants, and is good at experimenting to see what works

Ardyn Izunia: He had allowed Xion to stay at his shack whilst he was staying on Monsun, when it disappeared he returned and told them they had five minutes to get out. He told a story in March about a monster who had a human trapped inside, the human escaped for a time but the monster won and the human was killed, scattered to the desert winds. He called it a nonesense tale, Shion argued that hope wasn't nonesense and that the monsters don't always rise. Ardyn told him that sometimes the sun just didn't rise and Shion argued that that didn't mean they shouldn't fight for it. He fought Bliss. Gladio seemed to have an issue with him and Ignis loves him?

Shion figured enough from how others reacted to the story that it was a story of truth. He's not really sure what to think about it though. He trusts Ignis' judgement though so if Ignis likes him that's enough for Shion.

Asgore Dreemurr: He saved Aster when the sun died. Aster had told Shion about him but they did not meet until May when Asgore came to see Aster, he had an interest in gardening and he and Shion spoke. Shion was glad to meet the person who had saved Aster. He had disappeared for a while but had no memories of where he had been. He had fire magic which had been helpful against the dark creatures when the sun died. Shion told him about what had happened in the time he had been gone. They also discussed plants and how to safely move slightly dangerous plants like Delphinium.

He saved Aster, that makes him a great person already. He is friendly and Shion would like to get to know him better

Barry Bluejeans: A man who was stuck in a tree when the islands fell. He was shouting for help, Shion tracked his voice and helped pull him out the tree. Shion told him his theory about how these worlds pull souls from other places. Barry said that this place did not seem technologically advanced enough for that but Shion argued that that assumed what they were seeing was reality. Barry said he would keep his eye out for anything technologically or magically odd. Shion asked if being stuck in a tree didn't count.

He seemed nice enough and was calm despite literally being stuck in a tree. Shion would like to get to know him better.

Chara: They went exploring Ziziphys in early June with Connor, Aster, Futuba, Muffet and Ed. They found chia and Acer laurinum as well as Mantisks and sleepsoors. In late June they explored with Ren, Seto, Crow, the Knight, Muffet and Ed and found crates of useful things.

Chip Abaroa: A child who was caught in a stampeed on Ziziphus, Shion helped them by pulling them off the path the creatures were taking.

A child and so someone to be helped and protected.

Connecticut CT She arrived in June and moved into one of the shacks on island four. She was surprised at how long Shion had been on the islands, which confused Shion at first because it didn't seem that long at all. There were plenty of people who had been there longer. He told her about how islands come and go and about the Story Teller. He thought that the Story Teller would not let Enso fall into the water, at least not without warning them.

She asked whether he trusted the ST and he said he didn't know, he was not very reassuring and she worried about what would happen if the ST got bored or angry at them.

She seems nice, if new and confused. Shion hopes to get to know her better. She lives on his island so he will check up on her and make sure she is settling alright.

Connor Murphy: Ceej "You become responsible forever for what you've tamed, you know."

A boy Shion met at Tim's nail painting party. He had the most amazing nails, rainbow pinwheels and colourful dots. He offered to paint Shion's nails. Shion was fascinated by art on nails and though Connor initially overwhelmed him with choices and questions but was incredibly kind. He painted Shion's nails blue, grey, purple and red and freehanded rats on them. He was very good at art. He has a sister whose favourite colour is indigo.

He told Shion that the storytellers temple was a good place to meet people as it was near the writing rock and told him what the writing rock was and that when he wrote on it he used blue chalk. He told him that storytellings were probably the best way to tell time.

Shion asked how he had learned art. Ceej told him about his favourite book about a Prince who lived on a planet with a rose and how the illustrations had led him to draw and his mum got him into art class. He told Shion the story of how the lonely Prince traveled and met many people before he finally met a fox who became his friend, he tamed the fox but had to leave him. He made more friends including an aviator and then he returned to his planet and his rose. Connor used to look to the sky for the planet, hoping the Prince would come and be his friend. Shion pointed out that instead he had came to a different world and asked if he had made friends here. Connor said Tim was his friend. Ceej lives in the monkey compounds. His house is in a tree and it has a stakepit in front of it. To get there safely you have to cut past the narcissus flowers to the left and climb up. Ceej also has a raft and can sail.

A skill he proved when he stole a boat from Ai'Tuoh and delivered everyone safely back to Enso. When Gabe and Shion fought he yelled at them to tell them to shut up or he would throw them overboard. He stood up for Shion, telling Gabe that he didn't believe that Shion would start a fight. He told them both that you just came back when you died. He and Gabe argued. Shion followed little of it but he understood that Connor had died, more than once. Had taken his own life. That he was mentally ill and that someone had told him that he wasn't worth treatment. Shion was angry that someone had said such a thing.

Also Tim had no idea who Ceej was. It turned out that Connor had never told Tim that he wanted to be called Ceej. It was strange, as Tim was the person Ceej had named as his friend.

A few days after Story Telling when Shion had recovered a little he went to visit Connor at his home. Unbeknown to Shion Connor had added more traps and Shion tripped a wire and got shot in the leg.

It turned out that Connor also knew first air and he removed the arrow. The wound needed stitching and Connor had never stitched a wound before, Shion talked him through it. He seemed awkward when Shion told him he trusted him.

Ceej, Aster and Shion went exploring on Ziziphus and found Foolsblooms and Tigerlillys. He held a party at the end of April, he provided people with mind altering substances. He painted cats on all the islet houses for Ren's birthday.

When the islands fell Ceej kept glitching into trees. Shion helped him out of one and they spoke about Todd (a game designer from Connor's world), the islands and the Story Telling. How they weren't the author, just the Story Teller. The islands were not made from scratch and they came up with a theory that the Story Teller was using old islands to make new islands. The floating islands were like sand, wheras the actual islands were more durable, like clay.

Ceej told Shion about the sunken city and they discussed exploring it, as neither of them could dive they wondered about asking the Jormun if they had explored it before. They might have been the first here. Ceej told Shion that the Story Teller had spoken as if things here had happened in the past, sequals were never as good. Also that if the Story Teller feared the sea it might be because islands only exist if the sea doesn't reclaim them. Connor wondered if they just sailed into the horrizon if they would return the other side.

During the Bliss attack Shion ended up in Connor's dream world as Connor's boyfriend. It was a world were Connor had friends, went to school and grumbled about maths. He and Shion were happy and very cute. There was also strange faint music.

Later Shion went in to break Connor out. They met in the orchard and this time the music was more obvious. Shion told him that when they had first met Connor had told him a story about a prince and a rose. That in reality Ceej had never had friends. Shion poured bad memories into the dream. Echos of the argument on the boat. Everything Ceej had ever told him that proved that this dream was just that, a dream. A fake. He broke Ceej's heart and his dream and pulled him into reality. Ceej helped with defeating Bliss.

Shion didn't see him for a few days, he was focussing on helping Aster but also he was avoiding Ceej, because they had to talk and he knew it would be difficult. Ceej came to his house with a basket of blue eggs. Things were akward, he shied away from Shion's touch and then apologised for everything.

Shion told him he didn't need to apologise, that there had been nothing he had done that he needed to be sorry for. He apologised in turn for what he had said in his attempt to break Ceej's dream. Connor said he was apologising because he messed up all the time and Shion shouldn't have to deal with it, Shion told him he messed up too and Connor never had to apologise for being him.

Connor asked what if he was only doing it for attention, what if he were just a spoiled asshole, which seemed strange to Shion as Connor did not seem to crave attention. He lived in a house surrounded by spike pits.

Shion told him he was the least selfish and cited ways that Connor helped others. Connor told Shion he was too pure for this world, I'm the worst for making you care about me when there are no good bits. There's just . . . There's just a broken mess that I don't know how to fix because I'm pretty sure it can't be fixed.

Shion got angry, telling him that he was not good, he hurt people, he had killed Reno. That he was useless. That broken people needed to stick together and that Ceej had to accept that no matter what Shion was not going to cast him aside.

Connor said that he didn't know why people cared, that he was tamed but he didn't get what people got out of it. Shion said they got him, as a friend and that was no small thing.

Those friends thou hast, and their adoption tried,

It turened out Connor also knew Hamlet and they quoted Hamlet at each other, Connor was melodramatic, using an egg as a skull. Shion invited him to stay for dinner and Connor provided most of the food. They made omlets for Aster. Connor met the cats.

In early June they went exploring Ziziphys with Ed, Futuba, Chara, Muffet and Aster and found chia seeds and Acer laurinum as well as mantisks and sleepsoors. A little later into June they went exploring Enso with Komaeda, Ed, Hinata and Laurent and found some barrels and exploding mangos.

When the Jormun were protecting the hatchlings Ceej made an announcement on the stones that he was going to teach some of the fingerlings a card game and also that he needed stories for a greenhouse. Shion offered his stories.

He saw Ceej on the beach reading the Little Prince to some fingerlings.

Honestly Shion is incredibly confused with how exactly he feels about Connor. He likes him. A lot. But he's not sure how much of that is because of the dream world. Connor is a firm friend, Shion will do anything for him but he is confused about everything else. He likes Connor, but is that a betrayal of Rat? It all being mixed up with Hamelet doesn't help.

What is having a crush and how do you even deal with it? He wishes Reno was here because he needs advice and he's pretty sure it's not the thing you ask your little sister who technically is only four about.

Crow: A boy who was looking for Seto as Ai'Tuoh burned. Shion paid him very little mind even when he threatened to punch Shion for suggesting Seto might be dead. When the islands fell they met again, the boy wanted to find treasure and Shion worried that people might be hurt. He apologised for his behaviour in the city, Crow seemed uncomfortable with Shion's apologies.

Shion wondered why the islands had fallen, Crow suggested that they had heavy stuff on them and Shion didn't think that was likely, Crow took offence to him rejecting his theory. They both started glitching and Crow didn't like that.

He explored parts of Enso along with Ren, Seto, Chara, Muffet, the Knight and Edward. They found crates of useful things.

Shion is glad that he is not angry at him, though he is a bit awkward around him, he doesn't seem like the type of person to hold a grudge though.

Damianos: They met in Ai'Tuoh, Damianos tied a headscarf round Shion's head to cover his hair for him. He seemed uncomfortable. Shion wasn't sure what was wrong.

Not really a strong opinion but he is nice, he is also Laurent's boyfriend.

The Drifter: Shion's neighbour in the cells. They couldn't speak but were coughing and retching and sounded ill. They and Shion communicated through wall knocking and Shion asking yes and no questions, one knock for yes, two for no. They had not been hurt by the guards, they were from Enso, they were bleeding. They had nothing to help stop the bleeding. They didn't want Shion to get help, Shion didn't blame them, it was not like the guards would care. Shion told them to look for him, white hair and red eyes and that he would do his best to help them.

They never did find each other but later at the meeting of Islanders Shion found them offering to teach others how to speak with their hands. They have a creature that can type things. Shion spoke to them and learned that they were the person they had tried to help. Shion began learning sign language.

Shion is glad they are alright and is happy to learn from them.

Edward Elric: They went exploring Ziziphys in early June with Connor, Aster, Futuba, Muffet and Cara. They found chia and Acer laurinum as well as Mantisks and sleepsoors. They also explored Enso with Komaeda, Hinata, Connor and Laurent and found some barrels and exploding mangos. In late June they explored with Ren, Seto, Crow, the Knight, Muffet and Chara and found crates of useful things.

Futuba Sakura: Was in the same group as Shion when they marched on Bliss. They went exploring on Ziziphus and found chia and Acer laurinum as well as Mantisks and sleepsoors.

Gladiolus Amicitia: Gladio They met when the islands fell. Gladio was hunting a centipuppy. Shion helped him prepare it afterwards. Gladio asked if Shion could hunt, Shion told him that he was better at making traps and they made a deal, Shion would provide Gladio with food from traps and Gladio would teach Shion about fixing up houses. Gladio was one of Ignis' friends. Shion told him about infinite worlds. He said Ignis and Prompto were both nice, Gladio said Prompto was perhaps too nice and nice wasn't always an option.

He fought Bliss. Towards the end of May he contacted Shion and asked if he could borrow some paper, Shion went to meet him and learned that Gladio was injured. Shion gave him some Echinacea purpurea for the pain. He was writing a letter for Ignis, Shion told him that it sometimes helped to talk about things and offered his help if Gladio needed it. Gladio told him he wasn't great at asking for help.

A few days later he asked over the rocks if anyone could heal him so that he could help salvage things from Ziziphus. Shion offered to stitch his wound but by the time he had answered Gladio had found someone to heal with magic. He invited Shion to go and explore parts of Ziziphus with him and Tim. They found timber and berries. They also found a flustercluck, which they snuck past and two shrumal ogres. Ignis loves him.

He saw Gladio when he was helping the jormun protect hatchlings. They fought slyphers together and Gladio threw one into the ocean. He was also at the Jormun party and he sung a song.

He's friendly, strong and brave. Shion likes him a lot and enjoys spending time with him. He is still worried about him but he seems to have gotten past what was worrying him.

Hinata Hajime: They met on Ziziphus, Hinata had medical knowledge and had been working on gathering and planting medical herbs. They discussed making a clinic and Shion told him that Ceej also knew first aid. They talked about plants.

He was at the meeting of islanders and they discussed the Story Teller. Hinata figured there was a gap of understanding between the islanders and the Story Teller and they should work together to bridge it. He also told Shion that he had went home, for five years and then returned here to find that no time had passed.

He and Shion went to explore more of Ziziphus, they found garlic and ginger. Also bloodrot. He fought Bliss. In early June they were both part of a group that explored part of Enso, looking at where the kaleidoshells were. They mostly found leaches and exploding mangos but they also found some barrels.

He is friendly and it is nice to have someone to talk plants with also they should work on making the clinic and making sure people get help when they need it

Ignis Scientia: A man who saved Shion in a dream, rescuing him from ice sharks. He is blind but was able to fight incredibly well on hearing alone. Had powers that allowed him to move incredibly quickly. Shion met him at the festival for the rebirth of the sun and thanked him for saving him. Ignis had been injured in the fighting by a monster that messed up his senses. Ignis knew Xion and helped make plans to reunite the two. They spoke about different worlds and the animals on their different worlds. Ignis' world had chocobos.

Whilst on the islands in the sky Shion was effected by a reset penalty which made him want to 'catch' anyone he met as rare treasures. Catching being attacking with the closest weapon to hand. Shion came across Ignis and tried to add him to his collection. They fought and Ignis won, knocking Shion out and putting him in the safe centre of the island.

When they were back from the islands Shion went to apologise to Ignis. It was awkward because Prompto was there but Ignis was not angry. He understood that the islands had affected his mind. They spoke about strange happenings and how it was like they never had a moment to breathe and figure things out. Shion told them what the Story Teller had told them about looking inward to understand the islands.

Ignis made friends with a tiny phoenix called Rory. He healed Shion's burns and Shion was grateful. He said that controlled people probably had better chances with the birds and Shion figured that's why all the ones he met set him on fire. Ignis joked about setting trashy folks on fire and Shion failed to hear the sarcasm. He enjoys hearing about how much people like his cooking.

During the fight at the Standing Water Shion told Ignis he was going to burn down the city, Ignis gave him burning daggers and told him to stay safe. Shion's only reply was to tell him that Aster was in the void. Ignis told him to not make him have to inform her of Shion's death. Shion left.

A day or so after Story Telling Shion and Ignis met, Ignis had made Shion and Aster some food. Things were awkward but Shion apologised for taking advantage of their friendship. He told Ignis about getting angry and about how that time the anger had been cold. Ignis also got angry sometimes, angry in the defence of his friend Noctis. He said his anger often was cold but when Noctis was harmed it blazed hot. Noctis was missing and Ignis was very worried.

Ignis said that all they could do was decide what was fair and fight for it. Shion wasn't sure he could trust himself to decide such things and Ignis told him to trust in Aster. Shion worried about being as burden to Aster, Ignis told him about how his unwillingness to take help had led to him being blinded. They agreed to help each other and lean on each other for help.

At the islander meeting Ignis warned everyone about a strange vine that he and Ardyn had found. He and Shion spoke about the strange rotting smell on Ziziphus. They moved on to talking about plants and gardening. Shion spoke about his and Hinata's plan of making a greenhouse, Ignis mentioned his friend Mira and said he would introduce Shion to her. He kept his word and they went to visit Mira.

Because Gladio was upset about something and that something involved Ignis Shion suspected that his friend might be upset as well. He went to visit Ignis and took him food. He asked if Ignis wanted to talk as they had promised they would help each other. Ignis told him about Soma who had disappeared but who had been his friend and helped him when Ignis was new and still coming to terms with the events that had led to him being blinded.

Ignis is a good friend. He is kind and thinks of others first. Shion is trying to be as good a friend back. He likes spending time with Ignis. He is glad that Ignis is a bit more settled though he would like to help him find a way to remember Soma.

Jaune Arc: They met on Ziziphus, Jaune was new. He asked if this place was real and Shion told him he didn't know. Then realised that Jaune was panicking and made an effort to explain things to him.

They met again when Shion was working on the memorial garden, Jaune's name was on the list of the fallen but quite high up- there had been another Jaune there before. He crossed his name off but Shion explained to him about other worlds and how there were sometimes more than one person with identical name, appearance and history. Jaune said that another him would not want to be remembered or mourned and thanked Shion for not treating him like a ghost. He asked if Shion missed his world. It was a difficult question to answer. But he told Jaune that he wanted to make sure Aster got home, he told Jaune about Aster and Jaune said he would help try and get her back to her world.

Jaune is very kind, if very overwhelmed by everything. His offer to help Shion and Aster showed just how kind he was. Shion will try and look out for him, he is a friend.

Jullien Samari: Dagger A man Shion met in a dream. He has glowing red eyes. He was stuck in quicksand and Shion helped him get out. He had powers that allowed him to move the sand. He helped Shion stay calm afterwards when Shion was overthinking things. When Shion arrived on the islands he met Dagger at the festival for the rebirth of the sun. He shared information with him and checked that his powers were working here, one of his powers cause his eyes to turn to brown with red rims. He told Dagger he was good with plants and Dagger got angry at the idea that Shion would test things on himself before giving them to others. Shion promised to be careful and asked if Dagger had seen a dark haired girl with blue eyes, Dagger had but wasn't sure where she had gone.

In March when Shion told his story of how Aster had saved him from the standing water Dagger spoke to him. He told him that it was good he had someone who cared, it made things bearable. Shion told him he knew and that his family were just a bunch of broken people who stuck together. Dagger had found a family as well though he had struggled to accept them at first.

Dagger sensed that Shion was upset and Shion told him that he was always screwing up. Dagger told him that as long as it was new mistakes that he was making then it was fine. But it was the same mistakes, Shion told him that he knew better he just couldn't be better. Dagger told Shion that he didn't have to apologise to him, that there was nothing he could say that would upset him. Shion thought he was kind.

It turned out Dagger could read minds. He told Shion that he wasn't kind, that he was awful and could never make ammends for what he had done. He told Shion that he only knew Dagger not the old Julien. Dagger turned things around and told him that he was supposed to be about him getting through to Shion and not Shion convincing him about things about him.

They went exploring together on Ziziphus and found purple cornflowers and sea buckthorn. Both which have medical properties. They talked a little about language and their worlds. Shion told him that he had died too many times and that's why he had missing memories. Dagger said that when death was not real there was not much use to life. Dagger made rope out of vines and they took a plant to grow back on Enso.

During the attack by Bliss Shion ended up in Dagger's world, he was a servant in a palace, everyone loved the prince Julien and he was a kind and just ruler. He had a twin brother. Shion accidently called him Dagger and that broke him out of the dream. Dagger was so angry when he woke that he set fire to the vines around him. Shion tried to calm him down, tried to stop him from burning everything. He told him that Aster was sleeping somewhere on the island, that they had to rescue her. That they should help everyone, Dagger asked why he should.

Shion asked why he wouldn't and Dagger told him that others wouldn't help him. Then he told him that he feared if he did good people would just think he had a ulterior motive anyways. Shion told him that here on the islands no one knew him, they only knew him through his actions. Dagger agreed to help Aster.

A few days later Shion found him on the beach, he was fyre dancing and Shion watched. Dagger told him that powers like fire were passed through genetics by Andarian's. Dagger came from a world where there were over twenty planets and many people also lived in space stations. Shion began carefully talking about his dream world, learning that Dagger had been the younger twin to the crown prince and had become crown prince himself when he was five.

Whatever Dagger thinks of himself Shion thinks he is kind. Dagger's dream world made him sad, because he knows that Dagger truly wants to be liked. He will continue trying to help Dagger and trying to show him that he really is a good person..

Keith: Was in the group with Shion when they marched on Bliss

The Knight: Fought Bliss. He was part of a group with Ren, Crow, Seto, Chara and Edward to explore parts of Enso towards the end of June, they found crates with useful items.

Komaeda Nagito: He wrote on the rock but signed using Hinata's name. He had seen some of the kaleidoshells go up to the north of the island and was interested in them. Shion agreed to go with him to explore. They went with Hinata, Ed, Connor and Laurent and found some barrels as well as exploding mangos.

He seems nice enough though Shion is still confused as to why he called himself Hinata at first.

Kravitz: They met at the Jormun party.

Laurent: A man Shion met in the temple of Glyphs. He was drawing horses, he seemed like he didn't want to be interrupted but told Shion that he could draw. Shion drew moogles and chocobos. Laurent recognised the chocobo and they talked about animals.

In Ai'Tuoh Laurent found Shion when Shion got angry and tried to burn down the city. He attacked Shion with magic and then beat him up when Shion would not stop. Aster interrupted them.

At the islander meeting Laurent spoke to Shion about different worlds. He had also been to a different world before this one. (He also had made friends with a Tigerlilly, a distracting side point but no less important). He had given his soul to a creature in exchange for a wish, they had to hunt monster and if they succumbed to despair or didn't hunt monsters they would turn into a monster themselves. He doesn't have a soul, only an atrifact that stood in for one. If it became corrupted they would turn into monsters- called witches. He compared the idea of witches to the Standing water a reflection of the person they once were.

He hadn't escaped, just gotten pulled from there to the islands. Aster was watching them and Laurent said he should stop before Aster plotted his murder. Apart from that they both did not mention their last meeting.

Laurent was reporting his exploration through Ziziphus via the rocks. His voice was the only warning anyone had before the Bliss attack. Once Shion woke up from his dreams he called out on the rocks to see who else was awake. Laurent answered and Shion made his way towards him and Damen. Laurent fought Bliss.

He explored parts of Enso with Shion, Komaeda, Hinata, Connor and Ed in early June, they found some barels of useful things.

He wrestled a tiger shark at the Jormun party, which was pretty brave and impressive.

Though the awkwardness is still there Shion is glad that Laurent is practical. He is happy to never mention their altracation in the city and is relieved to have someone who he knows without a doubt will not hesitate to take him out if he loses control. Until then he finds Laurent inteligent and a good person to talk to. Also very brave and a little bit reckless.

Lup: Inventor or at least discoverer of stones of farspeeach and Lupnet. She was at the meeting and spoke to him about the Story Teller. She said that they weren't great at things like knowing about the world or what's going on on their island or what to do with the people that had shown up. But she thought that they were trying their best. She told him that the first people woke up on rafts in the ocean, she was with two people called Kidwun and Ed. There were about twenty or thirty people the first few months.

Early on they found some caves with sigils that were keeping the Story Teller out, the Story Teller sent them all in to the caves, gave them no option and locked them in. There were parasistic crystal creatures, people died. They had to kill their friends who had been infected. The Story Teller was horrified at what they had done and promised to not send them anywhere against their will.

She organised Ren's birthday and took her round to meet everyone and recieve preasents.

During the Bliss attack Lup made a speach over the stones, about saving everyone, about how true happiness only came through the messiness of life. Shion and her spoke and he told her that he was going to try and break people out of their dreams, she told him not to hold back and that their friends would forgive them. She fought Bliss.

She is friendly, he doesn't understand half the things she says but he likes her she is a good fighter but also kind.

Mira: Ignis' friend, Ignis took Shion to meet her as she also has an interest in plants and such. She was in Shion's group in the treck to fight Bliss.

Monkey D. Luffy: A man who recognised Shion, he had helped Aster look for him when he had first arrived.

He was nice enough to help Aster. That makes him okay in Shion's eyes.

Muffet: Was at the meeting. She came to help him when he was working on the memorial garden. She was the one who kept the list of the fallen. She knew quite a lot about gardening and gave him some tips. They wondered about what flowers best suited those they had lost, she had known Asch as well and they agreed that something bold and firey would be best.

She offered to help if he ever needed gardening tips and he offered his help if she ever came across a plant she didn't know. She went exploring and salvaging on Ziziphus with him, Ed, Aster, Connor, Futuba and Chara. They found chia and Acer laurinum. She also explored Enso with him, Ren, Seto, Crow, Chara and Ed in late June and they found boxes of useful things.

She is very kind. Shion is glad that she started the list and that she agrees that remembering people is important. He will be happy to help her with anything she needs.

Prompto Argentum: One of Xion's friends. She introduced them on Shion's first day. He has a really cute chocobo chick called Coco. He really likes animals too and likes Excalibur. He always wanted a pet when he was young. He was there when Shion went to apologise for trying to kill Ignis. He was concerned but wasn't angry at Shion once Ignis had explained. They spoke about the islands and how things happened so often. Shion told him about how he couldn't fight as well because he had not been in his real body and then about what the Story Teller had told him about looking inwards for answers. Prompto asked what he meant by not being in his own body and Shion told him. Prompto left to get water and Shion realised that he had upset him, or worried him. Ignis told him that Prompto had learned something upsetting about himself not long before and Shion's story had probably reminded him about it.

When they went out to find him a little while later he was taking a picture of Coco with his camera, he seemed very excited about it.

At the meeting he spoke to Shion and told him that he was from the world he had started on and he thought the same went for Ignis and Noct as well. Shion asked if he thought he, Ignis and Noctis were from the same world or from a similar but different one. He explained about different worlds and how many of the worlds were similar but different, how worlds could be at slightly different times. He told him about how he and Aster had known another Asch. Prompto asked if they had known any other Prompto's. They hadn't.

Shion told him how sometimes more than one of the same person had been in the Tower at the same time. Prompto suggested that maybe it was more than a coincidence that they were here, that he was with Ignis and Noctis, that Shion and Aster had reunited. That was a worrying thought. Shion said they would get out and Prompto said that maybe here wasn't too bad after all. Shion said that Aster had made the choice to return and he would honour that.

Gladio told Shion that Prompto was perhaps too nice. They spoke at the Jormun party.

He is nice, he doesn't seem to let anything worry him for long though Shion often worries about him though he knows he has good friends to help him.

Pyrrha Nikos: They met at the Jormun party. She was drunk and telling him a story about someone who she had a relationship with who was not dead and whose girlfriend was a tree.

She seems... nice. Drunk. But friendly.

Ren: A tiny girl Shion met on the floating islands. It didn't seem like she was used to being tiny though. She was trying to hide in her bag because she was afraid. Shion promised to stay with her and make sure nothing bad happened to her. She promised she would stay as well and if Shion got small she would hide him in her bag. It turned out she was the girl Seto had been looking for. They had found each other and Seto was happy, Shion was glad to hear it. She asked if he wanted to play with them when they got down from the islands. Shion said he would like to but didn't know any games. He panicked slightly at the idea of hide and seek but Ren held his hand and told him about baseball.

At Story telling Tim told everyone that Ren now had a birthday and it was May 2nd.

She came to the meeting of islanders and asked if Shion was drawing, he explained he was writing notes and that it helped him find patterns. She traced patterns on his book and said he could draw patterns, that was easy. She had arrived on a raft and been here a long time, told the Story Teller lots of stories, she enjoyed story telling and speaking to the Story Teller. Her favourite fruit was any that weren't moldy, which reminded Shion that she probably came from somewhere similar to West Town. He told her she could come to where he lived any time to get more fruit. She said she would, and bring Seto.

Taako and Lup brought her round the islets for her birthday. Shion and Aster gave her lots of strawberries, a flower necklace, some sea shells and some playing cards they had made. She loved their house of cats.

Shion went to explore Ziziphus with her and Seto, they got attacked by the vines but managed to fight their way free and escape.

She was in his dream world, in the library not studying but reading comic books. He also ended up in hers, they were on a baseball team and traded treasure. They made fruit sandwiches for cats.

In late May when Shion was training she came and ran with him. She asked what they were running from and he told her he was just training. They talked about running and he told her that Aster was quicker than he was. She asked if Aster could come and run with them and Shion wasn't sure if Aster was sleeping. Ren asked if they could go and check so they went to find Aster, she was asleep so they let her be.

She was at the Jormun party and was playing blackjack with a cat. They explored parts of Enso together with Seto, Crow, the Knight, Chara, Muffet and Edward, they found boxes with useful things in them.

She is really sweet. Her dream was so simple that it was heart wrenching. He likes spending time with her and makes sure to check up on her semi regularly.

Seto: A boy Shion met on the beach when they both woke up for the first time. He was looking for a silver haired girl named Ren. Shion tried to explain things as best he knew them, which wasn't much. Seto explained that his world was quiet and as their conversation went on Shion began to suspect just how quiet. Seto was amazed by people, by food and about everything they saw.

They tried food and Shion introduced Seto to hot chocolate. They tried oysters. It was fun.

Shion, Ren and Seto went to exploration of Ziziphus and got attacked by vines, they escaped, Seto was brave. In late June they explored Enso with Ren, Crow, Muffet, the Knight and Chara. They found boxes of useful things.

Shion feels protective of Seto. He likes spending time with him.

Shepard: She had gotten burned by phoenix's. She told him that the sun was not alive in her world and he checked if she meant was not a living creature, like a phoenix or the sun was dead. Luckily it was the former. She was part of the group that Shion went with to fight Bliss.

She is a good fighter.

Shouto Todoroki: A man with a baby phoenix. He had just arrived on the islands. Shion offered to help him. Shouto asked if he believed the Storyteller. Shion said he did and that there were things they did not control and the islands had power within themselves. Shion told Shouto about the storytelling and Shouto said he had no stories to tell. Shion explained that they didn't have to be good stories. He told him some other things about the islands.

He seems nice, Shion wants to help him settle in

Storyteller

Shion asked the Storyteller about the floating islands, they said the land molded itself to those that stepped on it. If the islands were deities in themselves they were beyond the Storytellers perception. They told Shion he should be turning his curiosity inward. That he and the others bent the islands to their consciousnesses. Nothing in the archipeligo has the power to create from nothing. They had no answers about the volcanic rock just that they did not understand how rock thought, nor the sand nor the sea.

The Storyteller seems disturbed by the sea. Shion asked about his vision and if that was reality or more his mind forcing itself on the rock. -"The islands bend to your reality. Whether your reality corroborates with true reality -- neither they nor I can discern for you. When I tell you to turn your questions inward, this is what I mean."

The Story Teller helped rescue people from Ai'Tuoh by opening the way for people to be rescued from the Standing Water.

The general consensus at the islander meeting was that the Story Teller was trying their best but wasn't great at many things. Shion was concerned that the Story Teller had sent the islanders to their deaths but Lup seemed to believe they had learned their lesson from that time.

After the attack from Bliss the Story Teller managed to get all those awake to Mu to tell them about Bliss, who they were and that they needed to be destroyed. They were grieving, struggling with the fact that a god had to be killed. That this had to happen. Shion tried to say something... anything to help but mostly failed. The Story teller saw this as their own mistake and said that mistakes weren't fixable. Shion tried to offer an ear for afterwards but the Story teller told him they would endure and that they were not interested in what should be only what was.

Shion is still unsure whether to trust the Story Teller. He thinks they are telling the truth. But they are a power larger than Shion can understand and his track record with beings of great power is not great. He figures they at least owe them the benefit of the doubt. After all many of them Shion included would be asleep forever if not for them. Once again he has seen the flicker of that power- the story teller is a god and so doesn't believe they owe mortals explanations or forwarnings (that Bliss was a danger). Shion still figures that politeness and cooperation is the best policy when it comes to the story teller but knows he should not let go of the fear, the wariness that the Story Teller might turn on them, might hurt them if they believe it is for some greater purpose that the islanders cannot comprehend

Tataru Taru: She was at the meeting. Spoke about opening a restaurant and wanted timber.

Shion didn't speak to her but she seemed friendly

Tim Wright: A man who had fireworks and was setting them off to scare monsters. The fireworks scared Xion but once she recovered Tim showed them how to use them, he had sparklers and firecrackers and fireworks that launched into the air. He was injured, though he said he didn't need further medical attention.

He also had nail paint and held a nail art party at the story tellers temple.

He announced at the March story telling that Ren's birthday was the 2nd May. They talked about dates and Shion realised that he and Aster had... skipped some months as it was now March and they had left the Tower in June. But time was probably fake.

He had no idea who Ceej was but it turned out Connor had never told him he wanted to be called Ceej. They talked about what Ren would like for her birthday, Tim called him kiddo which upset Shion because he wasn't in a great place. Tim was really kind and though Shion felt a bit silly he didn't make Shion feel bad about breaking down in a conversation about birthdays and rocks.

Tim's birthday is June 19th. He said that seven was a lucky number so Shion's birthday was probably lucky. Shion thought about it and figured it probably was.

They talked about dates and counting time. Tim took medication that refilled from the Story Teller each month, that was how he was counting. Shion didn't pry though he was worried. But he said they would find a way to make a calendar.

They met on Ziziphus where Tim set a Spindlank on fire. He didn't seem to be very okay so Shion tried to help him deal with the panic. He learned that Tim didn't seem to find touch grounding, and indeed seemed uncomfortable with it. Tim lied and said he was fine (I'm fine is always a lie). The creature was still on fire and Tim worried about it burning the island so Shion suggested drawing it to the water.

Tim gave Shion his spear and drew the spindlank towards him, sending it into the water.

They talked about killer plants and how usually they remained rooted to the ground, not walking like this one. Shion suggested that the fact it wanted to eat them suggested things that were meat on this island, as prey for the plant creatures. They discussed map making. Tim said he didn't know how to make maps and just mooched off other people.

Shion told him that he could fight monsters and helped other people. Tim didn't have to be good at everything. Tim said setting things on fire wasn't exactly fighting.

Shion began trying to map and Tim told him to be careful, a map wasn't worth his life. He also told him that people came back from death different, with lost memories or senses. He said the Story Teller brought them back as they had stories to finish back home. He warned Shion to be careful and Shion assured him that he wasn't going to experiment. Shion told him to be careful too.

At the islander meeting Tim told him that he had been in a world that wasn't his own before the islands. It was a castle in the mist. Sol Raveh and there was a battle between shadows and light. He was only there three or four months. He hadn't escaped, just gone from being trapped there to trapped here. Shion asked if there was anyone else but Tim said he would have to ask himself.

Shion asked Tim about when people had first arrived as Tim was in the first group. He said the Story Teller had been annoyed, as they had had to turn their house into a hotel and eventually probably gave them islets to get them off their lawn. Shion thought it would be good for the Story Teller if they found a way to leave as well. Tim said it wasn't the way these places worked, that people were in the castle for years and never escaped.

Shion told him that he and Aster had left the Tower. That everyone had. Even though their worlds were destroyed and they didn't have their own bodies. He meant it to give Tim hope. Tim took it to mean that Shion would leave here no matter the cost and told him he wasn't thinking of those that already lived in this world. Shion realised that he wasn't. That he hadn't thought of the consequences and that he was turning into a person who destroyed cities, didn't think of others and was generally destructive. He panicked and fled. A few days later he sent Tim an Apology note

When the islands fell Shion found Tim, he had been... mutilated by forces unknown. His body broken, his organs exposed and broken and wrong. Like one of Jason's experiments, like a drone. Should be dead but wasn't, was still painfully alive. Shion tried to help, he was helpelss but he tried. He thought briefly about offering to kill him, to hope he came back normally. But he couldn't find the words to do so. He figured that made him a coward.

Tim told him that he was always alone, got everyone killed. Shion told him that he didn't care if he got him killed, Tim would not be alone this time. That Shion would not regret being his friend, Tim told him not to say that. Tim decided to try and move out of the radius of the island, to see if it would fade. Shion helped him up, helped him tie a blanket around him to keep him together. He told Tim he was brave and Tim said he was a liar, that he was a coward.

Shion forced him to keep going, to move and get out of the radius. Once they were out Tim asked to be left alone and Shion left.

In early June they explored what was left of Ziziphus with Gladio. Tim told them to run when they found the Flustercluck but Gladio helped them sneak past. He also agreed to letting the shrumal ogres go and fight the flustercluck.

Tim is kind and thoughtful and cares about people. Shion really likes him but is also aware that A) Tim has a lot of issues and is trying his best to survive here. Shion wants to help him but isn't sure how to even start B) Tim does not need to be dealing with Shion's brand of messed up but he is kind enough that he will try anyways and that makes Shion feel bad and C) Tim probably thinks Shion is an awful person and Shion isn't sure how to fix that because he probably is an awful person.

Tim is one of the bravest people Shion has ever met and Shion doesn't even know... how to help him, how to interact with him. He feels like everything he does is wrong and maybe not putting himself in Tim's space is the best thing. But Tim said he was always alone. That's not right. Things were a bit easier with Gladio there.

Vax'ildan: A man who fell on him when the islands fell.

Xion: Aster. His sister who he said goodbye to. Hopeful that one day if they worked hard enough they would find a way to connect the worlds, but knowing that it was goodbye for a very long time, maybe even forever. But instead Shion had a dream, a dream that was too real to be normal. In it he was being chased by ice sharks, and Xion was there. She had her keyblade and fought off sharks. They ended up on a tiny bit of land. Shion was confused but happy to hug his sister one last time.

Except it wasn't one last time, she told him she was on some islands, and had been there for a month and a half. This dream space was a place where people often ended up before they woke on the islands.

Sure enough Shion woke up on an island and found Xion. They had a joyful reunion and Shion asked for a report. She was injured from a big fight that had happened before he arrived. She reported all she knew, about the islands and the people she had met. Including that the sun had died and was a phoenix. She then taught him about the correct way to enjoy a beach and they paddled in the ocean.

She dragged him round the festival and introduced her to some of her friends. She was terrified by fireworks and Shion realised something was wrong, she was jumpier than usual. She took him to where she was staying, they moved house when Monsun disappeared and Ardyn wanted his house back.

They began trying to fix up their house, though they both didn't know what they were doing. Shion sewed up her coat and finally confronted her about what had happened, she told him about a monster that had attacked her and made her feel like she didn't exist. He helped her talk about it and helped her regain calm. They reaffirmed their promise about not dying.

They talked about changing Xion's name. They made progress on their house and then ended up on the islands in the sky.

Xion found Shion when he was berserking at the island after his vision of Safu's fate. She managed to do the impossible and that was to bring him out of berserking without resorting to physically knocking him out or violence. He had lashed out at her and he was incredibly upset afterwards. He told her about what he had seen. She was horrified by the idea of experiments. She had had a vision too, of others from the Tower. They were safe.

He clung to her during his first storytelling, especially when he told his story about Safu. She announced her name change to Aster and he was proud of her for taking that step.

He used his first two stories to ask for Thalassa back for Aster. She was really happy. They spent time with Akko and watched firefly together.

Aster was incredibly brave in Ai'Tuoh she stole a book of laws to help people follow them. They ran recon but Shion was caught. During his time in prison he could only hope Aster had been better than him.

In the void he was terrified and so sad that this was it. He had broken his promise and would never see her again. She rescued him, hope in the midst of despair. Later when he had gotten angry and bean beaten up by Laurent she rescued him again, she was very defensive of him and angry at Laurent. She said that they would figure things out.

He had no idea what to do, he was a burden on her. He was out of control and had no idea how to fix it. They were meant to fight the monsters together. Instead Shion was the monster and Aster was protecting him from the world. He spoke to Ignis and calmed a little, focussed on being a better brother.

They went with Ceej to Ziziphus, they found foolsblossoms and Tigerlillies. She told people a bit about the Tower at the islander meeting. They celebrated Ren's birthday with her.

Her dream world was her own world, but with everything fixed, everything Aster wanted to happen had happened. Shion was there, her brother. Safe in a melting pot of a world. They ate sea salt ice cream on the clock tower.

He went in later and broke the dream, tore it apart with grief and heartbreak to save her life. It was one of the hardest things he had ever done.

In early June they went exploring with Ed, Futuba, Connor, Chara and Muffet. They found chia and Acer laurinum as well as Mantisks and sleepsoors.

Shion is glad that he was able to save her, even if doing so broke her heart. He will focus on making sure she is alright, and on doubling down on his efforts to find a way to escape, to make her dream a reality.

December, Year One

Shion arrived at the beginning of December during an event where many residents of the tower were in their own and other peoples nightmare worlds. He was lost and confused and many of the other residents that he met were equally lost and confused. But he felt that if the worlds had ended then they should work together to make this new world a better one for everyone.

The first big issue for Shion was how broken everything seemed, that the worlds had ended seemed impossible but so did forests that were larger than the space allowed for, so were aquariums without glass. So were many things... He quickly figured out the computers and network and was delighted by the library. He met Yosuke who taught him about different worlds, he tried to learn everything and keep quiet about how very little he knew. He learned about Christmas (sort of) from France. He soon worked out that though there were many people from many places none of them came from a world anything like his.

January, Year 1

Just as Shion was getting used to the idea that his world was destroyed and he was in a weird tower beyond the worlds the monsters attacked, the tower shrank to one room. Shion ran, hid and tried to fight. He was rescued from a giant parasite bee by Roxas but was later killed. This was his first death but as waking up from death was not something he was expecting or used to he did not realise it, assuming he had somehow been rescued and healed.

He was not so lucky with his next death, which came just a week afterwards. He met the Grand Highblood who he had already spoken to in the cafeteria in December, they got into a debate about equality, Shion had strong opinions about how if the worlds had ended such things as hierarchies and people seeing themselves as better than others had no place. Grand Highblood had strong opinions about how Shion should shut up and die and so killed him. Death wasn't real and Shion was not sure how or why.

Another important event in January was his meeting with Xion. Though it seemed like an insignificant thing at the time just a girl in a coat with a hood sitting on floor twenty her legs dangling off the tower. He sat with her and they spoke briefly, he told her the little he knew and she asked after some friends, most of whom Shion had never seen. But it was the first meeting with the girl who would eventually become one of his most important people.

February, Year 1

As February began Shion woke up to a teddy bear (which he named Lysander) and a promise of games. The first of which was the Midnight Game. He was taken to an elevator with some other residents and given some paper and a candle. The game was odd, a ritual, Shion was panicked and afraid but a troll named Signless helped him through it.

He was brought back to the tower. About two weeks later he met a boy named Leon who seemed friendly but proceeded to attack him and carve his heart out. Shion died, returned and before his mind even began to try and process that he was taken once more with other residents to the elevator and to an odd apartment where they were instructed to do another ritual, this time with the teddy bears, and to play hide and seek. They were given a phone and instructions that they had to post to the network (of which only one post, that of the game, was visible or active) every three hours.

Shion didn't understand the game, but after speaking to Nina and Mimio he did as he was told and hid. For ten hours. Through screams and exploding lights. Still and silent, he made a post three hours in, and then another three hours. He briefly spoke to Signless in hour five and Aqua in hour seven. In hour eight the teddy bear found him and left. He stayed silent and still and hidden. In hour ten he was found again and the bear touched him and drained him of life, in a way that was very similar to a parasite bees poison.

March, Year 1

Everything that had happened, everything that should not have been able to happen and the trauma of dying three times in two months when dying and returning should not be possible at all came crashing down on Shion in March. He returned from Hitori Kakurenbo (creepy hide and seek) proceeded to have a break down. He did see Xion again though, she was injured and he helped her with her injury, helping her calmed him down.

March was important because March was when he met Reno, his roommate. Reno arrived and Shion helped him understand the tower (like Shion understood the tower, but helping people was better than screaming wordlessly in panic). Not soon after they met there was an experiment where their collar fluid was changed, both Reno and Shion had orange collars but they got switched to Violet rendering them barely able to move. Reno was a lot less freaked out about this than Shion and tried to keep Shion calm.

Shion calmed enough that once his collar got back to normal he was able to go about his life in the tower. He had a job in the library and also helped out in the infirmary as much as possible to try and help people.

Willow threw a friendship party at the end of March and Shion attended. It was his first ever party and he mostly stood at the side but he had fun.

April, Year 1

April started off on a bad foot when Reno left his diary/report book half out of his trunk and Shion, who had very little understanding of private thought or what a diary was or why you would write down what you didn't want anyone to find out read it. Reno was angry and Shion was confused at why Reno would do the things that he had just read about. The argument ended with Reno asking if Shion even knew how to hate.

Shion felt bad but was unsure how to fix things between him and Reno. During that time he met Xue'Kol who was an odd friend, but became a close friend and someone who Shion was always glad to see.
Reno was avoiding him and Shion gave him space. But when Reno did not return to their room for a few days he got worried and began looking for him. He found him in the cathedral being attacked by an archraven. Shion distracted the archraven, drawing it off Reno long enough for Reno to escape, he then helped Reno who was injured.

The next day whilst Reno was doing research Shion showed Reno the tower guide that had been written and Reno learned that death was not real, after learning that Shion had died four times he told Shion he was going to train him.

He met some other people, learned more disturbing facts, made sushi with Mimio and helped Xion find books to distract herself with when she was upset. At the end of the month a second Reno turned up. Sometime during April a question appeared on the network asking what they were most afraid of. Shion, like everyone, felt compelled to answer truthfully, his answer disappeared after her wrote it and he wondered if it was a weird dream. His answer

May, Year 1

The month it all crashed down.

Not that it was really up to begin with.

Shion was taken with a number of other residents to an elevator and from their to a labyrinth where they were informed that they were to fight each other to the death over eight days until only one person was left. They were told that the experiment was being broadcast to the tower. they blacked out and appeared in the labyrinth with a rucksack with nutrition bars and water

To everyone's surprise including Shion's he lasted two days. He was scared by a dragon like person who was more interested in scaring him than killing him. He met Dave who calmed him somewhat, they lost one another and Shion had a brief run in with Leon (who had killed him in February) eventually he found Ven and they stuck together, they got attacked by Richtofen but managed to escape. He was sponsored both anonymously and not. Xion sponsored him as did Mimio and Eleanor, giving him food and water as well as healing.

The second day he spent with Ven who eventually turned on him and killed him. Instead of waking up in his bedroom in the tower he woke up in a room chained to the wall by the neck. This was his punishment

It lasted six days, during that time Shion did not sleep or eat or drink (nor did his body feel the need to). It was broadcast on the network, after the labyrinth was over on the eighth day and someone won (England) he and the others who had died and were being punished were returned to the residential levels.

Shion was, for want of a better word, broken. Completely. He was numb. If he couldn't save Nezumi, if he had caused such pain to him, what was the point of anything? He hadn't been strong enough, or smart enough to save him. He had been the cause of such pain.

He was at the very edge of a very steep cliff and Reno kept him hanging on. Reno tried to convince him that the Nezumi hadn't been real, that not everything in the multiverse was Shion's fault. He didn't quite convince him, but by being there he kept Shion stable, stopped him spinning into the darkness that threatened to consume him.

He couldn't convince Shion that the Nezumi had not been real though, he had died and returned many times, but so had Shion. He already knew that death held no real meaning here. For over a weak Shion did not leave his room, he barely ate when Reno brought food to him and barely spoke.

Reno disappeared though and Shion was worried, worried enough to leave his room and look for him. He ended up in the library, he had not been clever enough to save Rat, so he decided to try and learn everything. He found Xue'Kol (or rather she found him) and spoke to a person who was not Reno for the first time since the punishment. Reno found him and worried about him, he tried to convince Shion to return to his room as it was getting late and Shion hadn't even remembered to put shoes on before leaving. Eventually he got desperate and carried Shion to a different floor and dropped him in the swimming pool- luckily the shallow end.

It broke Shion's stubbornness, but made him think that he was becoming a burden to his roommate. Reno however had a plan, he stuck a note to Shion's head telling him to turn up to the meadow for training, he tested him and announced that he was stepping up his training. He had invited Xion as well and sent Shion to run laps with her and though their conversation was stilted and awkward it was the second conversation Shion managed since his punishment with someone who was not Reno.

Shion became Reno's shadow for the rest of May, he did as Reno told him but not much else. He felt nothing much except numbness and muted rage. Until the end of May when they went for their collar check. The weight on the back of his collar caused him to flashback to being chained, all the anger at Rat being hurt that had been hidden under despair for a month rushed back and he went berserk.

As he had been pulled from his world before he goes properly berserk in canon this was the first time it had ever happened. It took everyone, himself included by surprise. He fought the retrieval units and lashed out at Reno when he tried to stop him. He was killed.

When he woke Reno was waiting. Reno who had had enough of Shion's moping. He yelled at Shion, telling him that he had cried enough, that he was weak, that he had to man up and face what he had done. That Shion was not capable of control. It was close enough to his punishment to hurt hard. The numbness that Shion had been feeling was gone and Reno's words tore at him. So similar to Nezumi's words. Shion was a burden, he caused everyone difficulty.

Reno yelled at him, telling him some of the things he had been through and eventually told him to "grow up and accept this". This being a pin. The symbol of the Turks. Shion wasn't sure what it was obviously but Reno explained. "It's an offer. And a promise. I'm offering you a way to make something of yourself... whether good or bad, that's up to you. You've got a choice now- Either take it... Or I'm writing you off."

Shion took it, not fully understanding but knowing enough, that he had to do better and that Reno was offering him a chance. Then he cried, properly cried for the first time since the punishment Reno sent him to wash up, calling him rookie.

Shion didn't know it at the time, but he had just gained himself a family.

June, Year 2

People were taken for another game, Shion was not one of the people this time. But the tower had no food or power. One morning Reno gathered Shion for training and they went to find Xion.

They found her, she had just discovered that Axel was gone and was very upset. They spoke to her and Reno made the decision to give her a pin as well. Their little family was growing.

Shion also found his ecology coming in useful whilst foraging for food. Then he met a girl called Tara who had died and came back, but instead of returning whole she was still injured.

As there was no power and no retrieval units in the infirmary Shion took it upon himself to try and make the infirmary functional so that people could get medical care. He met Hojo who he was relieved to hear was a biologist and knew what he was doing. He also met Ventus, who was not the one who had killed him though it was an odd feeling to be around someone who looked identical to one who had murdered you.

Despite the power outage and the fact that their captors seemed preoccupied with whatever game was being played new people still arrived and Shion tried his best to help them and answer questions. He also met a bunch of other Turk's who were all from Reno's world.

There was an attempt to infiltrate the lower levels of the tower, Xion and Shion tried to follow Reno but he ordered them to stay. They were both stubborn but did as they were told. Whilst he was gone Xion got into a fight with Vanitas, though Shion was really not that useful at protecting her they began sharing a bed, alternating which rooms they slept in.

Reno died in the infiltration and both Shion and Xion were angry about that fact. They told him what had happened with Vanitas. Reno announced they were taking a day off and having a vacation, Shion and Xion had no idea what that meant but they had a day making a pack of playing cards (and teaching Shion what a moogle was) and then being beaten at poker by Reno as he was the only one who knew how to play.

July, Year 2

Shion disappeared from the tower and ended up in his dead world for two weeks, wandering the destroyed universe where not even the sun or stars burned. The only person left.

Returning to a tower full or horror was a relief just to be around people again. Shion had no choice but to continue, now he had to live for everyone who hadn't on his world. His attitude shifted, if this was truly all that was left he had to make it work. He had to work harder and so he threw himself into training. Not in the desperate way he had after his punishment but tried his hardest to become better to survive this place that was the only place left. There were lots of pushups in Shion's future.

Tower wise there was a council as everyone met up to discuss ways they could stop the administrators doing awful things. Xion stood up and said that the couple of times that the lower levels had been infiltrated everyone had died and they had to do things differently, her speaking gave Shion the strength to speak when they were discussing collars and he explained how the version of Nezumi who had been killed in his punishment had wore no collar.

People fell unconscious at the end of July for a few days, Xion was caught up in this. Shion learned that Hojo who had been helping him in the infirmary was Hojo from Reno's world. He got angry with himself for not realising as he had left Hojo alone with people, including Chihiro. Reno gave him the job of keeping an eye on Hojo, but Hojo disappeared not long after.

August, Year 2

August began with more training, namely other!Reno teaching him how to swim also meeting Elena who managed to terrify him. He also sat with Equius to protect him from whatever Equius was afraid of. So things bumbled along as normal (new normal, the normal of being in a horror tower full of monsters) until a space whale attacked.

Shion found Elena and Xion and they fought together, this led to Elena accepting them both as new Turk recruits and not thinking that Reno had lost his mind in taking them on. They survived the whale attack and the tower was remade. Reno disappeared during this time.

About ten days later Vanitas came to the tower (a different one than the one who had been there before), he attacked Xion and Shion tried to save her by running full on into Vanitas. He was killed. When he was resurrected he could see, just barely whilst half asleep a retrieval unit haloed in bright white light.

September, Year 2

Shion laid low for a couple of days, doing his job, training, spending time with Xion. Unfortunately Jin annoyed Jason who turned him into a monster in the library, Shion was killed by him bringing his death count to eight. This time he could look around but not move, there was a retrieval unit on his left and someone just out of vision on his right. When he woke up his left arm was numb for a while.

He grew closer to his roommate Elian, and they gained a fourth roommate. Reno returned. He gave Shion the task of learning more and documenting it after Shion told him about dying and the odd things that had happened.

A little while after Reno returned he was body swapped with Ganondorf. Ganondorf tried to pretend that he was Reno but messed up pretty quickly leading to Shion panicking. He soon learned that Reno was not the only one affected and it was another tower experiment.

He joined the attempt to try and fix things planning ways to find the vials of liquid that seemed to have been used to swap people and distract retrieval units. He and Elena searched the infirmary. He managed to find Reno and learn who it was that was in Reno's body. He helped measure all the syringes to help swap people back. They beat Jason's scheme, the first time that they had been able to stop the awful things that happened.

Shion continued working, as Jason had stopped the food again he wrote a guide of the edible plants of the forest floor to try and help people be able to forage without poisoning themselves.

Shion's elation didn't last long, Reno and Xion went missing. They had been kidnapped by Ganondorf who had hurt them. Shion found out from Elena and Xion, then he had taken Elena's gun from her trunk and went to find Ganondorf in a rage, because he had hurt his family. It went as well as you would expect, bullets did nothing and Ganondorf used a hand of blood to deposit Shion on a floor full of bugs and monsters, just as the monsters closed on Shion he moved him again. dropping him on Reno.

Shion was still angry but Reno would not give him spare bullets or let him continue his attempt at revenge. Eventually the fight went out of Shion and he realised what he had done. He was upset that he had angered Reno.

October, Year 2

Shion apologised to Elena for stealing her gun and using all the bullets. She wasn't happy at all but she forgave him and then told him she would teach him how to use the gun properly.

Then one day Shion woke up in an odd wasp costume, they had to collect candy to avoid their costumes crushing them. If they died they came back as monstrous versions of what they were dressed as. Shion helped Xion collect candy. He also gave candy to people who were struggling.

He met a book throwing resident dressed as a giant mouse in the library. This is relevant for later.

He also met Sephiroth this month, Sephiroth recognised the badge he was wearing and the second time they met he attacked Shion after Shion annoyed him, Shion escaped and realised he knew who this was and was surprised he had survived the encounter.

Shion's candy collecting game came to an end when he was caught by Richtofen who had been turned into a zombie, he turned Shion who became a zombie for a day before eventually being crushed by his costume and returning mutated. This time when he was being brought back he was able to look with his eyes but not move, he was on a metal table--a retrieval unit to the right of him. To the left were two more retrieval units handling various tools, as well as Jason, who was working on something inside of Shion's body outside of his range of vision.

November, Year 2

He came back to normal and was gifted a brain in a jar from the administrators. He went to train and found Nezumi, he learned that it had been Nezumi in the mouse costume. They talked, Nezumi scorned him, they argued, Nezumi claimed that Shion had not changed and Shion told him he knew nothing if he thought that. Nezumi called Shion an imposter and tried to leave, Shion grabbed him. They argued more and then kissed. Reno had the worst timing. Reno and Xion tried to convince Nezumi that even if Shion wasn't his Shion he was a Shion and he needed all the friends and allies he could get. Nezumi was not convinced.

Reno began trying to convince Shion that Nezumi was not healthy for him, Shion steadfastly ignored him. It was one thing he and Reno never saw eye to eye on.

All the translators in the tower went haywire that month rendering Shion unable to talk to anyone. Well except Nezumi but Nezumi was avoiding him and then Nezumi disappeared.

Files went up on the network that showed that Ruana had been an experiment, she woke up and spoke to people, she claimed it to have been a mistake, probably by Riki.

December, Year 2

Shion started the month helping those who were new, one of those he met was Hojo who had returned. When Hojo asked about the infirmary and suggested opening a clinic Shion agreed because of the task Reno had given him of keeping an eye on Hojo. They set up a clinic in one of the lounges, Chaos, Ishtar and Chihiro helped them. Their efforts were just in time because that month people began getting sick with a flu virus. Some were more serious than others and it soon came apparant that this was another experiment. Xion was one of the ones who got sick as was Reno.

As a random note Shion learned what a vampire was this month. They also gained Ienzo as a roommate and Shion shared his notes on all the experiments and things they had learned about the tower with him. There was no heat in the tower this month which made the illness worse, it got very cold. Shion spent a lot of time helping people and making them move so they didn't freeze.

Of course being around ill people trying to help them meant that Shion got ill as well. Reno had mentioned that Riku had said something to him after the debacle with Ganondorf. Shion sensed that it had upset Reno so he went snooping- Reno had given him permission to read his journal for research purposes.

However what Shion found shook him, it turned out that when Ganondorf had kidnapped Xion he hadn't killed Reno, instead he had brainwashed him. Reno had been working for Ganondorf ever since.

Shion went to find him and heard Ganondorf and Reno talking, their conversation confirmed his fears. Shion attacked Ganondorf who threw him across the room, Ganondorf then commanded Reno to make sure Shion didn't eavesdrop again, Reno obeyed. Shion realised that Reno had betrayed them, betrayed Xion. Shion attacked Reno, Reno broke through the brainwashing enough to let Shion kill him, hoping it would break Ganonforf's hold on him.

Shion killed Reno, it was the first time he had ever killed anyone and it hit him incredibly hard. More so because it was Reno, his friend, his teacher. Someone who had stood by him and helped him so much. He had killed him...

Ganondorf then made things better (a word which here means so much worse). He told Shion that Reno had thought of him as a son, that Shion was a traitor, that if he were capable of this who else could he kill? Xion? He told him Reno would never be the same again, he had killed more than just his body.

"No matter what horrors are committed in this tower, nothing shall be worse than your crime. No matter what misery you witness in this tower, no one shall be sadder than you."

Unable to process what he had done and unwilling to think any more Shion jumped off the tower. He knew death wasn't real, but he didn't want to be around, didn't want to think or remember.

He saw Jason again and this time could move his head. When he woke up he hid for a day and thought about anything that wasn't what he had done to Reno. He thought about Jason and coming back from death. He wrote up his notes. He decided to experiment.

Over the next two days he died twice more, for science. The first time he was able to move his head more, Jason noticed his consciousness and spoke to him, telling him it was interesting. The second time he could move fully but was held down. Jason spoke to him again. This time when he woke up his whole body was numb. And Reno was waiting for him.

He pinned him, refusing to let Shion run away. He told Shion that he had saved him, that he had been brainwashed and Shion had broken the hold. When Shion calmed down he realised he was numb, he began writing down his findings, Reno shouted at him for killing himself for science and told him that it was the sort of thing Hojo would do. That made Shion pause and remember what Ganondorf had said. He wondered if this tower was making him into some kind of monster. Reno tried to get him to talk about what was upsetting him but Shion couldn't.

Shion lay low for the rest of the month, Xion tried to chear him up. He found that he couldn't bring himself to train, it reminded him harshly of what he was capable of.
Reno and Elena decided to get married, though Shion didn't really understand why he was happy for them. However Sephiroth upset Reno by reminding him that it was all going to end in tears. Reno thought they probably shouldn't marry after all, as they might disappear. Shion pointed out that in his world death was final and people still married. He pointed out that many things happened unexpectedly. "If we hadn't been brought here, I would have never met you or Xion. We never asked for this but it's what we got... You can't not do things, you can't wait until this goes away to get on with life. Because this is our life now."

January, Year 2

The heat returned, people got better. Siira returned, Shion reported to her all that had happened in the six months she had been gone. He checked on people, helped new people. Confessed to Elena that he had killed Reno- as it turned out Reno hadn't told her about his brainwashing adventure.

Then things got weird, some people seemed to grow overnight, looking older, claiming they had been in the tower five years, ten years, in some cases over a hundred years. Chihiro was one of them and Shion was surprised to see his friend ten years older, male and yet still knowing who Shion was, not a Chihiro from a different world.

Nezumi returned, he and Shion watched Hamlet played out by singing lions and Nezumi was as stubborn as ever. Then there was lots of wedding preparation. Xion made a post to ask for help off people for the wedding. She was visited by Ruana, Shion found Xion in the library just afterwards and Xion told him what had happened. An attempt to help Reno bake a wedding cake turned into a flour fight. Things were better than December.

The day before the wedding a man named Mello who was new made a network post calling them all crazy and asking why they were doing things like getting married when they should be focusing on escaping. This upset Reno who tore up a bunch of the decorations he was working on and bolted. Shion had a go at Mello, telling him that he had no idea about anything, he told him all the ways they had tried to escape and how it was hopeless. He felt a bit bad, but Mello had upset Reno.

Then the wedding happened. Shion was best man, Reno and Axel swapped at the alter to confuse and enrage Elena. Ruana and Zo turned up but caused no trouble, the trouble was caused by Ganondorf who crashed the wedding, Xion shouted at him, he was chased off but Reno fled.

February, Year 2

February started with Shion and Equius exploring the machine room to try and work out what the machine did and failing at discovering it's purpose and also at staying alive. This time Shion could move and make noise, though not form words. Jason was amused and asked if he was trying to set a record. He began training again, Elena's lecture having helped settle his mind.

Then a bunch of people from a different place came. All from the same world. They did not arrive in dormitories, they did not have collars. They were from a place called Hinoto-Ri.

The administrators had a question and answer session.

Things Shion learned

-There is not a holy grail in the tower but several lesser grails that had been classed as sentient beings in need of saving. (He had no idea what a grail was or why it was important)

- Riki made machines that help Zo pull people's souls in to save them. Sometimes Zo misses and that's how the monsters appear. They are often warped

- The experiments are done because they find them interesting.

- There was no ghost, but an echo of the past seen in the present in a room where no one should have been but Jason found interesting for punishment

- The administrators were trying to find a way to reverse the end of the worlds but were so far unsuccessful

- If you go too far from the tower you die

- There was a side effect of the tower that made it difficult to kill them but if they removed the collars or went outside they could die for real. This was science rather than magic

- The visitors didn't need collars because their worlds were not destroyed.

- If their worlds were restored Dax would personally send them all back.

- Doc disappeared from the tower to end up in Hinoto-Ri to return as a visitor a few days later. The explanation for this was time paradox.

- Nyarlathotep was a person who the visitors had been looking for. He had been in the tower but disappeared. It might be possible if a being was powerful enough that they could move to another world even if all the worlds connected to their own were destroyed.

-Powers don't work on some floors because it is too dangerous or there are unexpected anomalies. Riki makes the floors.

- There are things Riki is not allowed to speak about

- The visitors put a strain on the tower

- The planet they were on was called earth, like many planets.

- The Ruana on the network who seemed child like seemed to be different than Ruana herself

- Jason was surprised that people claimed to have spoken to Ruana

- Jason could provide body parts if people requested them.

- The bubble doesn't know it's popped

- Jason doesn't descriminate based on age

- Knowing how they all work is important to Jason

- They didn't know how long the visitors would be there.

- When a world dies they just pull the first person they can reach in time

- The visitors could die permanantly

- The administrators are human

- Ruana sleeps when she is not in charge

- Sometimes they lose track of people and they disappear from the tower

- It would not be feasible to send them to Hinoto-Ri

- The barriers were not broken, it was more as if the visitors had gotten through a window that the administrators did not know was there

- The worlds are dead because of a virus that goes from place to place

- Death isn't really death, it is just their bodies needing to be repaired

- There are disruption fields that stop the tower from being destroyed or the walls from being broken.

- It would be possible for them to quarantine or restrain some of the population but they are under orders not to

- Jason takes solace in knowing Ruana would rather play games with the residents than the other administrators.

- The graves were Riki's interpretation of Dax's request that the residents had some memorial of those who had disappeared

- The tower of souls recieved its name long before the administrators were born

- Even lacking a collar animals could be brought back from death

The month continued, Shion and Xion spared and it was adorable. Reno disappeared for a short time. Ienzo was effected by Ruana's Halloween event and played music to Shion, putting him under the effects of Ruana's game. Shion became trusting of him completely and allowed him to sedate him and murder him. This time as well as numbness Shion forgot what room Rat lived in.

Ruana was up to games again and Xion got caught up in them this time, she turned up in Shion's room injured. Shion helped her, she slept in Reno's bed.. Reno reappeared to find Xion in his bed. They reported what had happened.

He was only back for three days when he disappeared forever, this time his name vanished and a grave appeared in the graveyard. He was gone for good.

A fog took over the tower and stepping into it brought voices from your old world, accusing voices. Shion mostly managed to avoid it. Some people infiltrated the administrative areas and discovered that they were souls, just souls being put into recycled bodies. The visitors went home, Ruana ate Dax for betraying her. The entire tower was Not Okay.

March, Year 2

Shion met John who had recorded the soul extraction process, he watched it feeling the despair creep back upon him.

Then Shion ended up trapped in Ganondorf's dark world when he cursed parts of the tower. Chaos told him that the magic felt like Ganondorf's and Shion was angry, he found Xion but they got seperated, he found Elena. During this he got taunted by Richtofen who was helping Ganondorf and got attacked by birds. He and Ishtar fought skeletons that could paralyse you with a look and ended in a maze. He fought a version of himself.

When he returned from Dark world he learned that Nezumi was gone for good, he was filled with anger towards the tower but had no way to channel it, he ended up breaking down in tears on Chihiro instead.

He tried to rally, met his new roommate and made pie for Chihiro's birthday.

Half way through the month it began raining, inside. Shion scrambled to save his research, finding that the lockers in the sauna were waterproof where trunks in their rooms were not. Shion was not sure why this was happening, but all signs pointed to Zo being in charge that month and he wondered if it was boredom. After the rain came scorching heat and thunder storms, then blowly Autumn winds that blew you off your feet and then snow. Indoor snow.

After things calmed down Shion joined Ishtar's attempt at educating the tower. As there were many children and people from worlds were education had not been widespread. He taught Ecology, he also attempted to learn literature off Tohko but it was a bit of a disastor... He learned a bit of history from Tohko's world and found it interesting, but then Tohko tasked him as homework to read some chapters from the book "The Master and Margarita" and explain why Bulgakov chose to write about religion and whether it helped or hurt his satire. She also asked him to write a story for her.

Neither task was one Shion could do, and the first one was so similar to the questions asked in his punishment that he broke down completely. Tohko tried to calm him and he managed to write a sentance of story, she asked that he just read the chapters for next time. There was no next time though, Shion could do many things but facing those particular memories was not something he was up to and he did not want to be a burden to Tohko by breaking on her every session.

Knowing Elena's birthday was at the beginning of April and figuring they might have no food as it was a Jason month he made pie in advance.

April, Year 2

He and Elena met at Reno's grave and he gave her some stale pie for her birthday. Xion and him went foraging for food and had a feast of nuts and berries. A few days later he got a letter He found Elena's grave and then went to gather food. He lost his calm though and started punching a tree. Hei tried to stop him and he attacked him, feeling awful about it afterwards even if Hei beat him pretty easily. Riku found him and offered to help him and try and control the darkness inside him. Shion accepted, because it was beginning to scare him. Riku told him to go to the hedge maze when he was ready.

Before he did so the tower distracted them again, this time by taking residents and turning them into drones, some mindlessly obedient, some who could talk and scream at the unfairness yet still had to do the administrators whim and some that were physically changed but whose minds were still their own. Xion was taken and turned into a mish mash doll creature that couldn't speak. Shion stayed near her to try and protect her. Equius was also changed and Hei, Despite knowing if was an experiment Shion tried to get through to Hei, to talk to him. Hei killed him. This time Shion forgot what order the administrators control the tower in.

May, Year 2

Everyone became back to normal, Shion and Xion sat on floor twenty taking comfort in a moment of quiet. It was learned that those that seemed to have been only physically changed had actually been spying for the administrators, the brainwashing had just been more thourough.

A few weeks into May though Shion decided to go and find Riku. Mazes were hard but he got there, Riku quizzed him on what was upsetting him, Shion told him about Xion and about how Hei had killed him and how he felt guilty for pushing him. Riku told him to talk to Hei and began quizzing him on his anger. Lessons had begun.

He spent most of the month trying to help Xion and not knowing how to, he found Hei and apologised, they went to find Xion to help chear her up. Hei disappeared not long afterwards.

Weird rumours began being written on the walls, people began believing them. It was very odd, some where silly, some were more serious like the food being poisoned. Shion began believing the food was poisoned and went about trying to stop people from dying of food.

The rumours stopped and it came to the one year anniversary since Shion had been given the Turk badge by Reno. He and Xion had a picnic at Reno's grave. Xion also got a cat. She also began helping place mircrochips that were part of a message Dax had given some residents before he died. She had told Shion about them.

There was a mascerade hoasted by a group called Pandora. Shion participated. There was a message on the back of the invitations.

Remember this: There will come a time when everything around you seems to be not what you thought it was, and you won't know what to believe about anything at all. At that time, look for something that is still true.

June, Year 3

The time came. As the month ticked over there was an announcement. Glamour system failure and finally they saw their new world for what it was.

The tower was a harsh metal construct, everything was metal and foil, all the things they thought they saw were illusions. Most so their bodies. For they were not bodies at all, just metal frames, filled with fluid matched their collar colours, inside them was a soul- the only part of them that was real.

They were just souls. Their bodies were gone along with their worlds. Shion and Xion had been sleeping in Xion's bed when it all happened and woke up in a pod of purple liquid. They went to find their friends as it slowly dawned on them that this was not another experiment it was the result of the chips. It was reality.

Cue panic. But not from Shion. Shion for once didn't freak out. Because finally everything made sense. Science wasn't broken, it was just more advanced then he had knowledge of. Floors didn't float in the air, it was an illusion. They were finally seeing what was real.

Xion said something odd when they were talking to Asch and later she told Shion about her history, who and what she was.

Glamour systems came back on. But they knew now. They knew what was reality. They learned that because of what had happened the tower only had a year of power left. A year before they would all cease to exist.

Ruana was in charge and soon they were thrown into another game. This time there were resdients turned into monsters, but only at night time. They did not remember being monsters and the only way to stop them was to figure it out and kill them whilst they were human.

Shion was killed early on by the screaming monster. When he was being revived he was conscious and could speak though Jason ignored him. He forgot that Dax was dead.

The residents made a barricade. Xion had a stone mask that Link gave her, meaning she could disappear and reappear. It was hard to keep track of her. Shion fought a little but mostly concentrated on helping the injured.

Xion died whilst with Riku, Shion was furious and attacked Riku losing control again. They fought and Riku forced him asleep. Shion avoided Riku after that. When he woke up he tried for normal, went on patrol and was killed by the crying monster. This time he forgot the name of his mums bakery.

The next morning he and Xion met in the cafeteria, he comforted Xion, she asked if he was alright and he lied and said yes, he did not tell her he had also died.

July, Year 3

Shion took a week long trip to his dead world. Lonliness was not good for him. When he returned he saw that Sephiroth had posted to the network and suggested a collar checkup boycott. Shion warned that there would be consequences and that those with purple spectrum collars could lost control of their powers. He had reworked the order of administrator control from his notes and said that if they were to do it this month would be best, there would be fewer consequences from Dax than any other administrator.

Xion replied explaining it was Zo next and John replied telling him that Ruana had eaten Dax and did not sugar coat the news at all. Shion panicked. How had he forgotten something so big? Shion forgot nothing and this was not just a fact. It was an experience. Something he had witnessed. Dax was dead the grief hit him as fresh as it had when it had first happened. Xion came to find him in the library and calmed him down.

He spent a good week rereading all his notes, trying to find anything else that he had forgotten. One night Xion disappeared from where she was sleeping next to Shion, he tried to find her and eventually found her back in the room, she was terrified and bleeding. She told him she had got taken to the first floor and there had been monsters. She was burning up and Shion realised her wounds were infected. She had a light on her collar and she told him Riki had put it there, to attract monsters. She also told him that she had gone down to the administrator levels. Shion told her off but relented when she began to cry. He told her that telling each other things went both ways and that Reno would probably bash their heads together. He told her that no information was worth her being hurt. But she countered that if they did not figure out how to escape in a year they would all be hurt.

Shion didn't take part in the boycott. But at the end of the month he woke up during a time suspension, where time seemed frozen, they couldn't be seen by retrieval units, Shion guessed because they had been programmed to understand the residents to be frozen at this time. He also came to himself at one point realising he was in a medical library, with books in disaray and some of them were covered in blood. He couldn't move his body, it moved on it's own and it was sorting the books. Shion realised that if they had this much control, could freeze their very perception of time it was no wonder they were getting no where. The administrators were all powerful.

There was another plan to try and infiltrate the administrative areas. This time Shion and Xion were going together, except Shion found the distraction that Ganondorf's team had set up and he was killed by Kiryu. This time when Jason injected him to make him black out it didn't fully work and he drifted for a while half conscious. He forgot the colour of Rat's eyes.

August, Year 3

Shion struggled to sleep, it was too dangerous. The administrators could take his memories, could stop time. He worried all the time. He pinned down the memory he had lost this time. He had never written down the colour of Rat's eyes, he knew they were beautiful but...

Jason posted to the network and asked if there was a way to make the tower safe would people want to say. Shion answered saying there were people he would not want to leave.

A man named Diarmuid also contacted him on the network to explain that Hei had asked that he look after him and Xion. Shion was quite defensive about his and Xion's ability to look after each other, to say otherwise would be disrespectful to Reno the one who taught them. Diarmuid told him he had his memories of Reno and Elena and that that was important. Shion explained that there memories were not safe and asked to meet up in person as he did not trust the network.

Xion had made a picture of what Jason looked like without the glamour. Shion told her how brave she was. He also told her about Diarmuid and brought Diarmuid to meet her. She was very suspicious and didn't want to trust him, she had been hurt too many times.

Shion recieved a blue rat in his trunk, every time he looked at it it seemed to have died in a more horrific way.

Shadows came into the tower, Shadows that looked like people from home but who told them how awful they were, who tried to keep them apart from the friends they had made in the tower. They could be beaten back though, with friends, the more people around you the less the shadows could get to you. Exposure to shadows made their collar colours paler and if they went clear they died.

Shion and Xion stuck together, though Xion had some bad experiences when she was alone and so did Shion. They mostly stayed together and chased off each others shadows and those of their friends. They also helped Sehiroth, because no one deserved to die from lack of friends. Not even him.

The collar boycotts and infiltration hadn't been for nothing. Some residents had collar fluid and science equipment. Teams were set up to research the fluid. Shion volunteered and became an assistant scientist under Sertoria who was team leader. They were researching the blue fluid, Xion was a bodyguard for his team. He and Diarmuid also talked about anger.

Shion threw himself into research. Finally it seemed like they were getting somewhere!

September, Year 3

Shion followed Diarmuid's advice and spoke to Waver, despite being intimidated by the older scientist.

Then Reno returned. Both Shion and Xion were in shock as he had been gone seven months. There was so much to tell him, and where to even start? They held off though and he asked them to not tell anyone of his return yet in case Ganondorf or someone found out.

Reno laid low for a few days. On the seventh of September Shion turned eighteen. Reno and Xion tried to make a cake for him, he loved it even as disastrous as it was. Reno got Shion drunk.

Two days later Shion briefed Reno on all that had happened. He tried to keep it factual, without letting his emotions get hold of him. Reno flipped completely he left the room and Shion ran after him trying to calm him down Reno continued raging, pushing Shion away. Reno told him that if nothing was real their souls could just be copies, what did it make them?

Shion said that their memories and experiences made them people, he was quite defensive about it now that he knew Xion's truth. Realising he couldn't stop Reno he went to get back up, in the form of Xion. Between them they pinned Reno down, Shion yelled at Reno and told him to practice what he taught, to listen to them because they had information and Xion had been tortured to get it. Xion hadn't realised Shion had guessed. They managed to get Reno calm, Xion told them what had happened in the administrative areas.

Then Elena returned. Shion reported to her too but more carefully. More new arrivals came including Kanda, a boy who looked so much like Nezumi it was painful.

Riki had a question and answer at the dorm levels, they were interrupted by explosions. Debris rained and everyone ran into dorms to hide, they ended up locked inside dorm rooms for a week unable to leave.

Shion was hit in the head by the debris and was injured. He ended up in room 5-16, Elena was with him, he managed to talk to Xion and Reno who were next door. He tried to convince them he was fine but Elena told them he was injured.

He was concussed and thought Kanda was Rat. The next day they started hearing weird things, caused by psychoradiation. The third day Elena called out, trying to get help. She lost her voice. Shion got angry and Isamu and Hidetoshi calmed him. On day five there were screams and sounds from the room Xion and Reno were in, he heard their screams and unable to help them was overwhelmed by anger. Isamu and Kanda tried to stop him, Kanda grabbed the back of Shion's neck which caused him to panic, Allen knocked him out.

October, Year 3

Shion avoided the bath party, took a shower and tried not to think about how he had lost control. He had regained his arm band from No. 6. He wore it, to remember and because it had a picture of his mum under his contacts. Even if it was fake. He slept for a long time, Reno stuck a note on his head to tell him to meet him. Shion did so and Reno told him he was upping his training. Shion told him he had messed up, Reno told him they might need to look for help elsewhere to help Shion stay in control.

He then asked him if he would officially become his son. Shion accepted (after crying and confusion) Shion and Xion talked about being official siblings and how they might want to find somewhere nice to go when (not if) they defeated the administrators. Shion still felt he would want to go home, he still had to rescue Safu, and he couldn't leave Rat. But how could he leave Xion? His family?

Reno and him spoke about getting Diarmuid's help with control. Reno also told Shion he would make a good inteligence gatherer. He also told Shion that he thought his problem was himself, Shion didn't have enough confidence in himself and relied on others too much. Shion knew this to be true.

Reno, Diarmuid and Shion began operation teach Shion control. Diarmuid had asked around and it seemed the best way was to learn his emotions, understand them and then learn to swap them.

He told Shion that they would get no where if Shion blamed himself and tried to make Shion promise he wouldn't. Shion didn't want to lie, but did not know if he would be capable of not blaming himself.. He got upset. Diarmuid waned him that it would only get harder and Shion said that if things were not hard they probably wouldn't be worth doing. Pain was proof that they were human. Diarmuid tasked him with thinking about what he felt and why he felt it and writing it down.

There was another collecting candy game, no costumes this year though. Only certain people could see the candy. The candy remained real even when the glamour glitched. Shion was fascinated and science happened. Sometimes he stopped percieving the candy. he could always see candy in peoples bowls, so could Xion even though she could not see the candy around the tower. The compulsion to take part and play was on him but he also was enthused just by how interesting it was.

Reno tried to not take part and began feeling awful Shion gave him candy and when Reno protested that he didn't want to give in to her Shion told him that Reno wasn't, Shion was. Reno told him it was the difference between being human and being someone's toy, Shion wondered if he was falling back into the trap of being obedient. Reno told him to take the candy away and Shion took it and dumped it in Reno's bowl.

After the collecting was done with there were riddles by strange shadow children. Shon was not able to answer the riddles leading to tricks, him feeling like his blood was boiling. The third day that he failed he was held down and molton chocolate was poured over him. This time when he was revived he had forgotten why his world was mostly wasteland.

November, Year 3

Losing memories was terrifying. Shion started another set of notes, this was to write down everything that he could remember about everyone he knew. He knew that written things were useless when the glamour went out but if he wrote things down and showed others... someone would remember if he forgot. He became obsessed with trying to write things down like how it felt to hug Reno and how soft Xion's face was. The exact tone of voice Xue'Kol used when she was teasing him. Things that were impossible to describe.

Asch made it worse by letting Shion hypothesise on the idea that the administrators could wipe their memories, they could have already learned everything before and almost escaped, it could be impossible because they would never be allowed to beat them.

Collar research continued, Setoria had disappeared and so Shion became team leader. He felt inadequate and frustrated that he couldn't figure things out. At the information sharing party Minato suggested asking one of the other scientists to compare notes. Shion said he would consider asking Waver.

His death at the hands of the shadow children had hit him hard because he hadn't been smart enough, and the collar research was hard, he began doubting his abilities in the one area he was normally good at.

He and Reno spoke, Shion told Reno not to blame himself for Shion's death count because if it hadn't been for Reno he would have died more like a hundred and nineteen times. Reno realised that Shion struggled to see fault in him and made him talk about Nezumi. He told Shion that Nezumi's eyes were grey. He also tried to convince Shion that he could have survived because he was bright, that Nezumi was not a hero. Shion was not convinced and told Reno that he still relied on people to survive even now. Reno tried to convince Shion that Nezumi was dangerous and abusive but Shion snapped at him and told him not to say such things, he had met Nezumi once he could not make judgements on him.

Because the Blue research team had suffered the most losses due to people disappearing Doc gave Minato a file for Shion to help things go smoothly. Shion was hard at work all month researching, as time was getting short.

However he did take a break for Xion's birthday during which he discovered that Reno had fell foul of fairy rings and ended up with wolf ears. He would have been mad at the faries but the ears were cute. He made Xion an ice cream cake for her birthday. They had an actual Turk meeting afterwards and Shion was put in charge of a team consisting of him, Asch and Xion.

He then ended up in his dead world for a week or so.

December, year 3

When Shion returned people were meeting, because there had been a carnival and people had had visions after another explosion. Shion learned off Reno that Elena was also gone, but her name was still on her door. Minato found him and they agreed to meet to catch up on research.

Shion got back to work. Elena returned. They succeeded in unlocking the part of the collar fluid that controlled powers, therefore meaning they could make a new fluid that gave everyone their real powers back rather than an illusionary copy.

On the fifteenth all the lights came on a rift in reality appeared and there was a message:

"Good morning, everyone. I'm sorry for waking you, and for the little power issue, but--well, sometimes you have to make a little bit of a mess to get everything cleaned up, right? I'm R-037, which means I'm a retrieval unit. You can call me Aria. I've been helping gather a few like-minded--that is to say, minded at all--retrieval units and worker units. We've got some autonomy and access you don't, so we want to help you all out.

What just happened is we've eliminated all administrative surveillance of your areas of the Tower. No one downstairs can see or hear you. This is only temporary, though, and, well, you know Jason, right? He's gonna be mad. I'm not sure what he's gonna do, but I think between you guys and us we can fight back! You guys need a place to go where they can't see you, though--so we're going to be working on that right now. We needed to cut off the admin access so we could work on it, but that's obviously going to attract attention.

So, guys, we need your help. Keep Jason from interfering as much as you can. You'll find that with what we did to the electronics in the Tower, he'll be a little easier to handle. Still, he's dangerous, so be careful! Just--give us as much time as you can. We'll help, of course! I'm sure you've noticed, but retrieval units are quite reliable in a fight."

The Turks (who had renamed themselves as Ragnarok) rallied. Shion was afraid but he was also a Turk, he knew he should be able to handle this. He told Xion he would make sure nothing happened to her, she told him not to make promises he couldn't keep he said he would do his best- he was prepared to die for her, had died for her in the past.

As the glamour was glitching they began grabbing real weapons off monsters that dropped them. Shion came up with a system of tying ribbons to the real weapons so they could be distinguished when glamour came back on. It wasn't a perfect system, he knew there was too many variables but it worked as long as they kept checking. He went over maps with Reno. He helped Diarmuid with weapons distribution and made sure everyone had emergency rations. Under Diarmuid's orders he was practicing finding good things about himself and he thought that thinking about variables and making sure everything was covered was something he could be proud of.

The next day plague doctors spilled from the abyss, they ignored people with orange collars, and those with orange collars were the only ones who could harm them. Aria reminded them about collar checkups and told them she had been the one handling them for a while, the infirmary was like a fortress.

Shion fought the plague doctors when he had to, protecting Archer from them at one point. He also ran supplies to the infirmary. The distractions worked and Aria made a new floor, a hidden floor that the administrators couldn't see.

January, Year 3

New month. There was a repeated menu in the cafeteria, that had never happened before. Shion's collar fluid had been switched with the new formula, he had no powers to return but he believed it had worked, it was a step to figuring out how to return their souls to their bodies, and restore their worlds. There was still much work to do and he spoke to Waver again, they discussed the nature of souls and what that could mean. Even though many worlds counted different things as a soul they seemed to be the same thing here, so they would probably need to convert them back.

People had died during the distraction, as Reno was the leader of Ragnorok he took it hard. Elena asked people to help find him, Shion did so- taking a set of spare clothes as Reno had not gotten changed after the battle. Reno told him that it didn't matter as it was all illusion, that collar fluid was not blood. Shion told him that it was in some ways more important as it was what protected their souls. Reno broke down and Shion told him he shouldn't hide, that family meant they didn't need to hide their pain.

"We're just a group of broken people banding together right?"

He continued researching, becoming more aware of how little time was left. It didn't help that on every network there was a counter, counting down to power outage.

Sephiroth and Ganondorf kidnapped Ryoji and forced his death god powers to activate, he also kidnapped Diarmuid, Lancer, Yukiko and Patrick using them to activate Ryoji's powers, he then turned them on their friends. Waver had killed Diarmuid to end it. Reno had tried to find out what had happened and gave Shion the notes. Reading how his friends had been hurt filled Shion with rage, as he began to hunt for Sephiroth and Ganondorf though Diarmuid found him and managed to calm him. For the first time Shion was able to calm from immense rage. Shion said it would be easier to have no emotions but Diarmuid told him not to think like that.

There was a Ragnarok meeting the next day. Shion and Reno spoke about how little time they had. Reno told him that he should try and live a little, in case it all went wrong. Shion was his kid it wasn't right if he went out too innocent. Shion argued that he wasn't innocent and that his life had been good even if not as exciting as Reno's. Though Reno spoke like the end was inevitable Shion didn't believe it, or more he had promised Xion they would escape and return to their worlds, he owed it to her to fight his hardest until the end.
Reno made a speach about what Ragnorok was all about. Choice. Something they did not have much of in the tower. It was something they could all agree to fight for.

Near the end of the month there was another explosion, this one even more violent. It ripped up the staircase and exposed the spine of the tower itself. The power began fluctuating wildly, everything kept going offline. It got worse, the tower didn't seem to be repairing itself. Eventually Riki made an announcement.

"You can all guess the explosions did something. What they actually did is damage the power core that runs through the Tower. We're gonna run out faster than expected unless that can be fixed and we get a bit of a recharge. I can repair it, but not without extra power--so I need your help. I need volunteers--willing volunteers, don't go shoving people you don't like down the elevator shaft to help out--to let me hook them up to a machine that can provide some extra power to the Tower. Won't kill you, won't suck you up and make you part of the Tower, nothing crazy like that. I can't tell you all the exact effects since I've never done it before, but I know anyone who agrees to help out will end up pretty exhausted for a while. If you don't help out here, there's two options: first option, everyone dies here. Second option, you all get sent back to your dead worlds, wandering around those alone for eternity, since you can't die there. Not good options.

You've helped me out in the past, so I'm trusting you guys to help out again. But here's some information for you, too: after the damage done to my Tower, I've managed to trace the explosions. They're Jason's fault--trying to create chaos and infighting, I'd guess. I'll let the boss know, too, so maybe something'll happen there. 'Course, wouldn't've been able to figure it out at all had you not drawn him out last month and given me a good look at his signatures, so thanks for that, too.

Anyone who wants to help out, come to the elevator on floor one at noon today. It'll take the rest of the week."

Shion and Xion decided to do it, to lend their energy. Reno guessed and was scared for them. He told Elena who told Shion she supported their decision.

They were hooked up to a machine and fell asleep. They began having nightmares which got worse as time went on. Then they woke up, in some kind of void. The void was pitch black, the only lights came from their souls. They felt a pull, leading them.

He found Xion, they wandered together. Eventually they all found a mirror they were compelled to touch it, and as they did the possibilities of ever possible future burst into their minds at once.

February, Year 3

They returned to the tower, were let off the machine. The memories from the mirror faded, not gone completely but hazy half remembered with only flashes of clarity. They were hit with absolute exhaustion that faded over the month. Sometimes he found himself back in the void, just disappearing from reality and ending up in the void, returning sometimes seconds, sometimes hours later.

Nightmares were nothing unusual for Shion so he did not think too much about a dream of a bear ripping his heart out, however overnight all his feelings for his friends and family had disappeared, being replaced with anger and hate. He had a tag on him saying "A bear stole my heart. Will you find it for me?" He didn't notice the tag himself but a boy named Ira did.

Reno had also lost his heart, they found each other and argued. Shion told Reno he was a useless teacher and a coward Reno told Shion he was a helpless nutjob and he didn't need him as a Turk or a son. Shion told him if he was fired then he didn't need to witness Reno's pathetic attempts at baking.

Two days later he woke up with all his feelings back, he felt guilty at what he had said, Reno's words echoed around his head and though he knew Reno would not have meant them same as he hadn't meant what he said he still thought there was truth to them. He also realised he had missed Reno's birthday, he made him cupcakes with an apology/birthday note.

As he was leaving the room he checked the terminals and saw Ruana's latest game, it was a game of predators and prey, in the labyrinth that still haunted Shion's nightmares.

He broke down and Reno found him on the floor next to his bed. They spoke, Reno realised that the labyrinth had been a turning point for Shion, Shion apologised for being an awful son, Reno apologised, there was crying.

Shion didn't want to watch. But Xion and Elena were in there so watch he did. People died. Jason died, killed by Zelda and Asche under the orders of Ruana because Jason had betrayed her. Jason could not hurt them anymore.

Shion went to the hidden floor where people gathered after escaping the labyrinth with help from Aria. Elena had been killed but Xion was alive and injured. He stitched up her injuries and let her talk.

Even though Elena had died when she came back she was injured, because Jason was dead and therefore was not the one returning them.

Reno gave him a handwritten book full of stories from his homeworld.

March, Year 3

Some people moved rooms, as many people had disappeared Zo had merged rooms so no one got lonely. Reno ended up back in Shion's room.

Diarmuid and Waver got married (sort of) and Shion made cake. Celtic knots are hard to ice! Waver was grumpy and threatened to throw Reno into the cake, Reno told Shion to distract him.

Diarmuid said that Waver was awkward because bonds made it easier for the tower to hurt them. Shion said that the administrators would be the ones who would cry in the end. But then got control on his anger.

Shion, Diarmuid and Reno met for more lessons. Shion had notes on feelings. Some were normal statements, some attempts an analysing his feelings, some random statements like the fact Xion's hair was soft and that made him happy. Some was bad poetry, some had been written after nightmares and were words on top of words, written in the dark so he didn't have to see. He also had some written when he had lost his heart, he kept them but marked them as an anomoly.

He spoke a little bit about his nightmares, his punishment but as well as Rat it was Xion, Reno, his family here that were hurt. Diarmuid told him that figuring things through like this would make him stronger. Shion said he didn't feel stronger, it just hurt.

People began getting sick, Shion tried to help like he had last time. He was confused though- Jason was dead and Zo was not someone who normally hurt them. Xion and Reno were part of a team that managed to get more information by hacking.

People got sicker and sicker, the power failed, the glamour failed. Zo's voice was heard. "This place is too dangerous. It's too dangerous. This place doesn't save anyone at all." The reality of the tower cracked in half, Shion was one of those caught up in the twisting and found himself away from the tower, on the dead planet, the tower in the distance. It felt like his body was too big for him and could fall apart. Though they looked like wireframes, those that had the new collar fluid had an outline of themselves within the wireframe.

They got to the city that surrounded the city. It was dead, the bodies like those on their own dead worlds. He found Xion and they travelled back to the tower together, they got to the city. Xion was exhausted and something in Shion made him keep going, carrying Xion when she needed to rest. They explored and found some water. They finally got back to the tower, but not everyone Patrick died and never returned.

Not that Shion found out for a while because just as they got back to the tower he ended up on another dead world. His own this time.

April, Year 3

Shion spent the entirity of this month on his dead world

May, Year 3

He was on his dead world until the 21st of May. He did not take it too well but he stayed sane somehow. Because he needed to, if he wasn't too late his friends would need him.

Xion told him that she had made her mind up, when (not if) they restored the worlds she was going to go home, despite everything. Shion was proud of her.
Then with ten days left on the clock one morning Zo and Aria (who no one had seen in a while) burst of the elevator injured. They claimed they would not let them hurt everyone anymore and monsters were after them. Everyone helped build barricades and fight and flee up the tower to the hidden floor, trying to slow the monsters down.

Shion helped make barricades and then ran with Lancer. They got through the maze and finally to the hidden floor.

The second block of the tower was swarming with retrival units, Aria was injured. People rallied and planned and helped the injured. He and Reno spoke in a quiet moment, Shion told him he thought he would be terrified but he felt more numb. Reno said it had been the same when meteor was falling, the end of the world was a massive thing.

Shion told Reno that though he did not know how he would cope without him and Xion and his friends he was going back, he had to rescue Safu and help Nezumi. He was afraid of being alone though, because the futures he had seen in the mirror were as numerable as they were vague but he could not remember one where Nezumi stayed with him. Reno told him he would never be alone as those he loved would always be with him, and then realised he should apply that to his own life.

People began getting notes written in blood, Shion didn't but Xion did. Shion wondered if they put them all together there would be a message or if Ruana was getting desperate. Then a few days later a message carved into the wall. I Found You

Shion however hadn't been on the hidden floor but on his way, the tower rippled. Something was moving. When he got to floor 101 the power and glamour were off. But Reno was there and so was unglamoured Riki.

Shion rushed to help Reno. Riki sent spikes that injured him but he kept going. Xion burst out of the hidden floor. A wireframe, but his little sister. Her keyblade appearing in her hand before she threw it at Riki. Leave my family alone. Shion stood despite the pain and echoed her demand, to be spiked once more, dying. His twentieth death.

June, The End

When he woke up he was in a cell, there was a timer in the middle He had been paralysed for an hour and the timer read 4 hours. Counting down.

He called out for Xion and Reno. Xion answered, she told him she had done something crazy but they had pushed Riki out of the tower. She had hurt her knee though landing wrong. She was several cells down from Shion and he remote first aided her. He told her that it seemed every time she went and did amazing things he died before he could be useful.

She hadn't realised he had died, in all the confusion. She begged him not to die anymore because they might have no chances left. They made a promise, hands on the glass of their cells that they would not die any more.

Diarmuid also filled him in on what was doing on, including that some people were missing. He checked that Shion was keeping calm and told him to save strength. They tried to find ways out of the cells. Shion said that maybe the power would fail gradually, the glamour was already out so maybe non essential things would fail first. It would not be much time but it might be enough.

Then as the timer hit zero, power failed. The cells opened but the door seemed welded shut. No one had powers. They were trappped. Until a rip appeared, a rip in space. They went through, there was no other choice.

They ended up on dead worlds, not their own though. Other peoples, the people who were not in the cells.

Shion, Xion, Waver, Diarmuid and Lancer ended up on Gaia, Midgar. Reno's world. They found Reno. Shion told him that Xion killed Riki. Reno pointed out that even though they were travelling they were in wireframes, more than just souls. He showed them a warehouse with weapons and bandages- so they could deal with Xion's ankle properly.

One portal closed, another opened. This time Xion and Shion ended up in a dead world identical to Xion's dead world. On a clocktower was Namine. Shion carried Xion up the stairs on his back. With each person they found they felt stronger, peoples powers came back.

A final portal opened. It led to the silent machine room, lit only by the lights of the retrival units souls and Zo's glowing eyes. Everyone's powers returned real. There was a pressure in the room like someone was trying to crush it.

Aria spoke: "The power's out--obviously. There's only enough life support left for some of the levels of the Tower, so you can't go upstairs. The elevators aren't working anyway. But listen, it's time. Those of you who can fight, you have to go with Zo and do something about Ruana. Those of you who can't or don't feel like you'll survive, we need to figure out what we're going to do. It's now or never--we have to take control of the Tower and you need to figure out what you're going to do to try and save your worlds. Really, it's okay if you don't want to fight. At this point, there's no way she'd restore any of your bodies even if there was any power that would let her do it. Remember, people who are willing to fight Ruana with Zo, and people who will brainstorm a way to end all of this, stay here with us."

Shion knew his greater skills lay with thinking rather than fighting. So stayed with Aria to figure out a way to save the worlds.

And try to find a way they did. They discussed options, figured that like the portals they could use the connections they had made here to spread a virus of their own (or an antivirus) through the worlds to restore them. Or a way to reset their souls. Or to switch the barriers that held them. The only thing Shion argued against was sending them back in time, erasing their memories, he thought forging people to forget was as bad as what had been done in this place.

Ruana was defeated by the fighters. The tower went a brilliant white. They ended up in a void, with the machine. Ruana was floating held by Zo. He told them they had not much time, to tell him what to do.

Zo could use the machine as they instructed, he could even save Aria. But not himself. Goodbyes were hard, saying goodbye to Xion was almost impossible. Zo climbed up on the machine, they began to be pulled away. Their last impression was a dying world being torn assunder by a crying child, that child was put to sleep and they went back to where they belonged.

Xion didn't deserve to be alone, she deserved a beach and ice cream and friends who would never leave her.

His best friend, his little sister. A girl who was braver and stronger than he could ever be. Shion doesn't have the words to formulate all that Xion means to him.

They met on floor twenty. She was new, he told her that the world probably hadn't ended and that they should still have hope. She asked whether he had seen her friends Roxas and Axel and Shion told him he knew of a Roxas; the one who had saved him. He promised to tell him she was here if he saw him.

He met her again after Hitori Kakurenbo, she had been injured and her arm was in a sling. He checked her arm, which had been dislocated but put back into place. They hadn't given her anything to stop the pain though.

He met her again in the library, she was looking for books to distract herself with and Shion found some fiction books for her while trying to find out what was wrong. She came to training and Reno made them run laps. She had been in the labyrinth too and they both weren't alright but they ran and it made them feel a bit better.

When Axel disappeared she was really upset and Shion and Reno found her. Shion tried to comfort her and Reno gave her a Turk pin. So she became family and Shion promised to always look after her. She slowly became one of his closest friends, fellow Turkling. They stuck together after that. Though during June strange things happened around her, headaches and memories. They tried to follow Reno to take over the control room but he made them go back, they waited together and were both angry when Reno died. While Reno was dead she got into a fight with Vanitas so she and Shion began alternating which room they slept in so she would be safe. When Reno came back they told him what had happened and then played poker. They found that her and Reno's worlds both had moogles as well as magic. Shion was glad to see her when he returned from his dead world. He was really proud of her when she stood up at the fellowship meeting to stop people from going on doomed rescue missions.

At the end of July she fell unconscious for a few days, Shion and Reno tried to find ways to help her and Shion stayed by her side the whole time. During the whale attack she found him and Elena, they stuck together and though Xion hurt her wrist, and Shion his ankle they survived. Then Vanitas attacked her, Shion jumped into save her and died, but Xion survived. Xion was too out of it to notice Shion had died and Shion made sure she never found out. He felt bad he couldn't protect her better.

Reno returned and they tackle hugged him together and filled him in. After the body swaps they both went to the party and had fun. A little later she was kidnapped by Ganondorf, who Shion confronted later. During October they helped each other find candy until she died of her costume and forced Shion to take her candy.

She walked in on Shion, Rat and Reno and gave Rat some advice on other worlds and doubles of friends you knew.

Xion had been learning to sew and knit and she finished a jumper, Shion congratulated her and told her she had talent. She came to visit Shion in the clinic. A few days later she fell sick, Reno told Shion who went to look after her.

She made a network post to try and make sure the wedding went smoothly and got a visit from Ruana, Shion went to see her in the library afterwards and talked to her about it.

She was Elena's bridesmaid, they both were glad that Reno turned up to the wedding. Then Ganondorf tried to ruin things and she screamed at him to stop it. At the question and answer session she thanked Zo for helping at the wedding, and asked how he was. Then they talked about feelings whilst sparing.

Xion was caught up in one of Ruana's games and got a chunk taken out of her arm, she arrived via portal to Shion's room in the middle of the night. He sewed up her arm and they spoke about what had happened. She had been in a dream where she had met a woman who had lost six fingers and they had to find them. She had put her arm in a hole to see if there was a finger there and got it bitten by a creature.

She stayed in Shion's room for a few nights, sleeping in Reno's bed as he had been sent to his dead world. They explained to Reno what had happened when he returned.

She learned Reno was gone from her work in the graveyard and together they tried to comfort Elena.

She was trapped in the dark world as well and Shion stuck with her until they were separated.

In April she asked for training over the network and told Shion that he could go with her if she found anyone. They then met up and went foraging for food and had a feast.

In April she was taken and experimented on, turned into a mish mash doll creature. He dropped his books when he saw her and she helped pick them up, she couldn't speak. He promised not to leave her.

In May they sat on floor twenty, not even really speaking. Just being together. He took her some food from Xue'Kol. She was not okay all through that month and Shion tried his best to be there for her. At the end of May, a year after Shion became a Turk they had a picnic at Reno's grave.

They were both sleeping in Xion's bed when glamour failure happened, they stuck together to try and find all their friends. Xion told Shion about her history, who and what she was. Many more things about Xion made sense after that and Shion was even more impressed with her bravery.

Xion fought on the barricades, she had a mask that allowed her to go invisible, it made Shion jumpy for her to be disappearing all the time. But he was incredibly proud of her. She died, he died the same night and they met in the cafeteria, he lied to her and told her he had been fine.

Xion calmed him down when he re-learned about Dax's death. Later that month she was punished for her part in hacking and Shion tried to help her, her wounds were infected, she had a light on her collar that attracted monsters. She had tried to go down to the administrators section. Shion was angry at her for doing something so suicidal but she cried and he couldn't remain mad at her. He told her that what she had told him about telling her things went both ways and that any information they found wasn't worth her being hurt...

After the next infiltration she showed him the picture of Jason without his glamour, Shion told her she was brave. He told her he had forgotten the colour of Rat's eyes, Xion didn't know what colour they were. She was very dismissive of Diarmuid. Something had happened, she did not tell Shion but she feared being grabbed on her upper arms or elbows.

During the shadow event they stuck together and fought off each others shadows and those of their friends. She became a bodyguard for the Blue research team. Reno returned. Shion and Xion were together at the time and there were hugs and tears from Xion. Xion who was the stronger one. Reno asked who had been looking after them and Xion told him no one, they could look after themselves.

She made Xion a cake for his birthday, it was somewhat edible but the gesture meant everything. After Reno flipped Shion babbled to Xion about what he had done and she came to try and calm Reno down. They pinned Reno, Xion was surprised that Shion had guessed that she had been tortured to get information about the administrators. But she was his best friend, he knew her. She told them what had happened.

When they were locked in rooms she was with Reno and Shion was with Elena next door. He spoke to Xion and Reno through the wall and tried to convince her he was fine, when she learned he was injured she offered to try and cure him through the wall but Reno told her to save it.

Her and Reno got killed and Shion heard their screams, causing him to go berserk.

After Reno asked them to be his children officially Xion and Shion met, Shion turned the flowers Xion was weaving into a flower crown for her head. He and Asche bored her with science. He made her ice cream cake on the 19th November for her birthday.

When Aria's team blocked all surveilance and they went to distract Jason Xion was scared, as was Shion he promised he would protect her, she told him not to make promises he couldn't keep. He told her he would do his best, they parted with "love you". The first time either of them had said it outloud.

They both decided to help Riki power the tower in January. Xion told Shion that Reno had already guessed and wasn't mad, just scared. They spoke about Jason being behind the explosions. They were together in the void. When they returned Shion fought exhaustion long enough to get to her room and curled up next to her.

She was in the labyrinth and was injured. Shion helped patch her up. She apologised for being careless and for Elena dying. Shion told her not to blame herself. Axel disappeared and she was very upset, she went to Diarmuid and Waver's party and she and Shion ate cake. She was kicked out the tower by Zo as well. She pointed out that she could see a shape of Shion inside the wireframe rather than a ball of soul. They travelled together, Shion carrying her when she was exhausted.

When Shion returned from his dead world Xion told him she had decided that when they restored the world she was going back to hers. Shion was proud of her.

She got a letter written in blood when they were on the hidden floor. When Riki attacked Reno just before Shion died he saw her burst out of the hidden floor, keyblade in hand attacking Riki, Leave my family alone Words could not describe how proud Shion was of her. If this was the end, then this was how he wanted to remember her. Defiant and proud.

When they awoke in cells she told him what she had done to defeat Riki, he remote first aided her. They travelled to the dead worlds of friends together. After they got back to the tower and had to save the world and fight Ruana Shion begged her to stay, to not risk herself fighting Ruana. She stayed, they worked on saving the worlds.

It was time to say goodbye. They both had things to finish on their own world. Shion promised to try and find a way to link worlds, they had done the impossible here, he could do it again.

Presentation: To the world Shion comes across as a kind hearted boy, a little naive though that is slowly changing. Shion grew up as an elite and his experiences as one, and his feelings about the fact now colour his personality a lot. He grew up in luxury, knowing nothing about the lives of others in his own city never mind those outside of it.

He feels guilty for that and it is very obvious in his actions. He is forever trying to make up for the fact. Learning the truth about Nezumi's people and their fate only furthered this self hate and though Nezumi told him it wasn't his fault Shion is unable to forgive himself for the fact that when he was four he was living in safety and plenty whilst Nezumi's people were hunted.

He comes across as naive and unknowing of how the world works, this is somewhat true though after everything that happens in the correctional facility it is no longer a question of naivety. Instead it is idealism, he has learned about the corruption and horror of the world and yet still believes humans are worth fighting for. Would still help others, even if they turned around and betrayed him.

In Shion's case though naive is not stupid, Shion is a genius. The reason he was an elite is because he was tested to have a very high IQ when he was two. At the age of twelve he treated Nezumi's bullet wound despite never having seen a gun or a bullet before in his life and was about to enter the special program, schooling for the very brightest.

However this intellect is limited to facts, maths and science. He knows nothing of the arts; literature and arts are banned in No. 6. He knows nothing out of the strictly controlled curriculum, though during his time in West town he devoured Shakespeare and discovered a love for reading.

Shion is kind, indeed he is perhaps too kind. He will always to the most immediate most compassionate thing, even if it has bad consequences. For example he lets himself be robbed by street children because they were hungry, not processing the fact that they would still be hungry the next day, that Nezumi had lost his hard earned money etc. Similarly he will not hesitate to put himself at risk.

He has little knowledge about fighting, what he knows is intellectual or taught to him by Nezumi. He has killed before, something that hit him very hard emotionally. However for the most part he is not violent, violence is a last resort. He doesn't believe in torture and believes that people will do the right thing, unforced.

He gets on quite well with others, is kind to them though through his childhood he only had one friend; Safu, who he risks everything to save. Nezumi appeared in his life when he was twelve, he helped him without question. Not even asking his name, not being scared when Nezumi attacked him. He believes he owes Nezumi everything, for taking him out of No. 6, saving his life, making him see the truth. He claims that without Nezumi he would have grown up to be a mindless obedient adult, never knowing what it was like to starve, or hate, or love.

At the point where he is pulled from he has just been given a huge job, he is to remake the destroyed No. 6, create a kinder more compassionate city that is equal and fair. It is a last chance, if the city falls into corruption again Elyurias (an ancient goddess) will destroy them all. He has taken on the responsibility and dealing with the connotations of that, and Nezumi's departure. It is taking a toll on him; his mother comments that he rarely smiles and often forgets to eat.

His latest act was to exile Yoming, someone who had embezzled funds from No. 6, and then acted as a hero to bring the government down. He did this ruthlessly, dismissing worries among the other committee members that he was a naive young boy.

Motivations: Inside Shion is still the same, he is still kind hearted, intelligent, a little naive. Still struggling with the fact he was an elite, though he holds more self hatred than shows on the surface.

Outwardly he claims that it was Nezumi that dragged him from a life as a mindless No. 6 worker, but truthfully Shion always felt a deep unease about the city he lived in. Always felt stifled even when he lived in luxury with his mother. It was that more than anything that led him to opening his window in a hurricane the night of his twelfth birthday and screaming. An act which drew Nezumi to him, and changed his life forever.

There is darkness in Shion. Nezumi can see it and often claims that he is scared of him, of what he can become. Shion feels that darkness in himself as well.

He sometimes looses control, mostly if Nezumi is threatened. Shion almost throttles a guy for calling Nezumi a prostitute, strangles another man for hitting Nezumi and kills to protect him. Kills in complete cold blood, injuring first, demanding answers, before killing the man who stabbed Nezumi.

This darkness scares Shion, he can barely live with himself after killing and it is only Nezumi who manages to bring him back to himself, forcing him to keep going. He is very much eaten by guilt, both for killing and for failing to save Safu. Though deep down he knows that the moment she was taken she was lost he will still always blame himself for putting her in danger in the first place.

Out of everything it is Nezumi who motivates most of what Shion does, he can make himself move even when terrified because Nezumi would sneer at him for be week, he can keep going when there is no hope in order to save Nezumi. He can kill to protect him, he can take on the job of changing a city to appease Nezumi's goddess.

Shion is a lot stronger than he seems, not physically but mentally. He survives the parasite bee, only the second known person to do so. Nezumi cuts the larvae out, with no pain control or anesthetic. The pain it puts him through is indescribable and yet he survives.

He is afraid of a lot of things, he often zones out when he is unable to cope and it often takes physical shaking to snap him out of it. But he faces his fears and despite them he manages to save No. 6.

He is also more intelligent than he might seem, though that is more an issue of others perception rather than him hiding something. He remembers everything, is able to memorise the map of the correctional facility easily. He remembers odd details about people, in almost stalker detail though he just does it as a matter of course. He is clever enough to fake details of Yomings dealings as proof used to exile him; proof of both the darkness he holds and also how power can begin to corrupt people and through it he wonders just what he is doing, and what he will become if he carries down this route.

Above all though his kindness is deeper than it seems, he goes to great lengths to help people, risks his life without thought and at times is only stopped by Nezumi. However because of his lack of fighting ability he often gets into the situation where he has to be rescued by the person he set out to rescue.

But he tries.

Shion looked around with wide, unnaturally purple eyes as the door shut behind him. He had absolutely no idea what had happened except that one moment he had been safe at home, a long to do list of what needed to be done the next day running through his head, and the next he had been in a room, with people talking about a death match and him participating.

He wasn't in No. 6 anymore that was for certain.

He looked around, at the people who seemed to be mostly ignoring him and then at the equipment. He had no idea how to use any of this, he only had vague ideas of what most of this even was from the books he had read.

The only thing he could use was a gun and that had been mostly hoping for the best...

And he had hoped never to have to use one again. He could still feel his finger round the trigger, and the sound of shooting still haunted his nightmares.

He looked up sadly, and wondered if they would even notice if he just stood there. Those that had brought him had told him to impress, but he had no idea how. And he didn't know if he wanted to.

He could imagine Nezumi laughing at him as he spoke.

He shrugged, "Anyways I have a job to do... and I don't know where I am but I'm not going to be any use to you, so please send me back."

It didn't really surprise him to be ignored, but he had tried at least. He stood for a few more moments and then demonstrated some knot tying, and identified a few poisonous plants.

He didn't think he had impressed them at all.

Shion doesn't have any fighting ability, he is physically not very fit (though he is improving) and though in his time in West Town he becomes used to hardship he doesn't know how to face it alone. He trusts too easily and doesn't hesitate to jump in danger for others.

On the flip side his intelligence will help him, he will be able to memorise patterns. He has also proved himself able to go through horror and keep going. Getting through the correctional facility was awful, everything he knew about the world was shattered, he saw more death than ever before, he had to become more than he ever thought possible. Yet he managed and proved that despite all appearances, and evidence to the contrary he is a very tough soul under all of the derp. He also has working medical knowledge and knows an awful lot about plants, which will hopefully help him find food..

Hence why I went with 3 instead of 2.
